Imported WRX Seats
#1
![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Does anybody know - if you buy a UK WRX, it comes with side air bags and the sports seats. Do these seats come with the raised section between your legs or is that just on the bucket seats?
Looks like the choice on an import (EU) is cool (bucket) seats with no side airbags or squidgy sports seats with airbags. Hmmmm... cool or safe? Can anyone clear this up for me? Have I got the wrong end of the stick again?

AFAIK Subaru no longer give you a choice in seats, there is only one type.
Before there was the choice, as you said, of 'sport' seats with side airbags and little in the way of support
or
buckets seats. No airbags but loads of support (not for the heftier driver).
There is now only one seat that i'm aware of and it's kind of a compromise between the previous two types.
Again in my opinion, it's neither supportive or safe!

You can't choose in the UK - you have side airbag seats.
To be honest, I'd order with these as it will help come resale. Don't specify anything that's any different from the UK spec!
Cheers,
Nick.

Import seats are the same, but without side airbags.
Manual makes reference to having description (covers?) on the side of the seats if they have airbags.
EU import seats def have no label/cover etc.

Just saw brochure in dealers (car in for 1k service
)
It appears EU imported cars get a way better deal - bucket seats (with raised bit between legs etc) instead of flat UK seats with side airbags!
Woo-hoo!

There are pictures on www.subaru-global.com showing MY03 WRX with triangle bit on seat. I also e-mailed the picture to Gertjan in Holland who is supplying my EU import and he says seats are with triangle in his own car and mine should be the same.
The UK WRX III catalogue doesn't show triangle bit and the one I sat in last weekend didn't have them either. I asked the dealer about the seats and he said they only come with one seat version now?
I also have 2 quotations from Dutch dealer stating different versions of EU import, RAD EKEC = side airbags, RAD EKER = no side airbags, both with bucket seats.
If you can't find the interior picture let me know and I'll send you it.
Also the car at NEC Motorshow last year had triangle bit on the seats too.
Andy.

My WRX MY03, in Luxembourg, came as standard with the seats have a raised section in the middle, and I'm sure the brochure mentions there was an option for seats with airbags.
If you visit the Benelux Subaru website at www.subaru.be you can get a complete list of the options and pictures. I'd check myself, but the site seems to be down.

Ollie,
you can choose in the UK and with a Euro dealer (at least Belgium anyway)- (no cost option).
My (Belgian UK spec) MY03 comes in June and I specified the rally style seats with no air bags. They are like the old MY99 style seat and have the bulge between the legs (so, sonmthing for the lay-dees) :-)
There seems to be confusion about the names- I think the sport seat is the one with the side bags, but is very flat on not as supportive. I've seen the other type called "rally style" seats.
