When's the best time to change up gear?
#1
It's never been explained clearly to me.
Is it best to change up at the top of the torque curve or should it be at the top of the powerband or should you just redline for max power.
I know some smarties will say: redline it all the time! But I want a serious answer if poss.
Thanks.

I personally dont think you need to get near the redline in a scoob. If you look at the power torque curve, its pretty flat above 4500 rpm (from memory) as long as when you shift up, you hit at least the bottom of the curve, you'll get the full benefit.
All IMHO of course

Get your car Tek'd and then its easy because it pulls well right up to the red line. In fact the other day mines was pulling so well in 3rd that I didn't 'feel' any power tail off at the top and smacked into the limiter

Would agree with Saxo Boy. All depends on your car set up. My current original frustrating set up (which i'm thankfully changing soon) means that there is no point on me reving past 5500. In fact beyond this it almost feels like i'm decelerating if you know what i mean.
