Sorry your all wrong, up to 60mph, the 22B jap import will out accelerate any other impreza. It seems that very few are aware of the import 22B's caperbilities, thanks mainly to the low gearing over the 16 uk versions which in comparison feel slow. 0-60 on these cars can be seen at 3.8 seconds.
After 60mph, that 202 is quicker, due to the whole power speed thing.
Im sure the ones of you in the know will agree with me.

MMmmm.
I thought it was just 5th gear that was different between UK and Import 22b's and I doubt that you would be using 5 th for a rapid 0 -60. I may be wrong but my UK one seems bloody quick!!!!

lol 3.8 seconds to 60, what a pile of drivel. 0-60 time and top speed in a p1 is quicker than a 22b

The RA has the same lower ratios but is lighter, power to weight dear boys
. Also I know a 22B that was timed 0-60 in under 4 seconds. If he reads this he may confirm it.

Any of the import companies on here (see banner adds) should be able to get you a S202.

my mates selling his S202 and his 22B, e mail me if you want his number.
His s202 has got the full nitosprt boost gauges and carbon dash kit, plus hes had other bits of the dash done in carbon, also 18" speedline turinis in gold, plus sat nav, DVD, flip out screen etc.

the s202 is quicker! but it should be as it a newer car with newer trickery and about the same weight as the 22b but also has around 40 bhp more. The 22b is quicker than the figures that motor mags quote it to be as owners would not alow the testers to screw them into the ground.Remember there was no long term tests of these cars like the current sti7/8 as Subaru did not import the cars so road tests are very few and far between.I have road tests that gave the 22b a 0-60 time of 4.9-5 secs dead without really trying all that hard (no full 7000 rpm starts etc etc,Evo said this was easy if allowed to) and 0-100 times 0f 13 secs and below (better than a p1).I think its about time we found out the real potential of the 22b (i would love to know) so how about some of the 22b boys post some of their acceleration times up so they can P a lot of us off.

Please re-read my thread. 22B 1270kg, WRX STi 1430 Kg, 202 ?kg.
I was talking about the import version when I mentioned the 0-60 time. 16 uk versions did 0-60 in 5 seconds. Also for the guy who thinks its just top gear they changed, im sorry to say your wrong. The Jap car has low ratio gears throughout where as the UK car has P1 gearing. The diff gears were changed front and back which affects all ratios in gearbox, resulting in longer gears.
Working late again, or should be rather!

The 22B UK has 'shorter' gearing than the P1, and longer than JDM type R's. All the gears are 'different' due to the final drive ratio being changed. 4K rpm = 86mphish in 5th on a 22bUK IIRC.
Dunno what the 'real' 0-60 is and don't really care...it's the fat torque curve and power delivery that differentiate the 2.2L 22B from other scoobs.
I'm sure the S202 is faster point to point than a 22B..suspension, brakes and tricky diffs are worth alot. I have a MY03STIPPP and I think that'd be quicker point to point also than my standard-ish 22BUK..but I still think the 22 is more fun.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I can also say, after a weeks holiday, that a Jeep Wrangler is more fun than a new model Megane 1.4RXE.

The S202 is far more capable than a 22B. It is so much quicker on poorly surfaced back/country roads as to be a little embarrassing really. No other ‘standard’ Impreza or Evo for that matter can match its pace. The Evo is much stiffer and can get deflected/bounced sideways on broken surfaces making it pretty scruffy when trying to make quick progress. Having said that, the 22B is even worse. I would describe it as dangerous under certain situations. Despite my observations, I love the 22B. Fond memories.
