Well today after after 4months of waiting I finally told the car dealer to stick it where monkeys stick their nuts. I have had my order (Deposit paid) for a 2003 WRX with MotorPoint of Burnley since early December. Was told at the time of order the car would be with me buy the end of Feb at the latest. Rang up MP at the end of feb - no car and could not tell me when I would it get it. In the space of 4months I have not had one phonecall from MP to keep me upto date with what was going on. Then I looked on the website and was shocked to see 3xBlue 2003 WRX's for sale. Rang up to find out what was what and basically the sales staff did not have a clue.
Finally got some answers...

Original Spec and price was;
Car: £15995
Plates: £17.01
Tax: 155.00
Reg: £25.00
RAC Cover 12mths: £59.00 (Not Optional)
Valet: £52.88 (Told not Optional but according to website is)
Vat: £2.98
Total: 16310.87
Told car was UK spec included 3years Warranty and Cat1 Alarm

NOW told PRICE is...
Car: £16,599.00
Plates: £17.01
Tax: 155.00
Reg: £25.00
RAC Cover 12mths: £59.00
Valet: £52.88 (Told not Optional but according to website is)
Vat: £2.98
Total: £16,910.00
Now told Car's are not sold as UK spec only 1years Warranty, Extra 2yrs=£500 and no alarm Cat1, Alarm Extra=£500(Sales Manager told me his sales staff would not have said they were UK spec and basically called me liar)

Well enought was enought and I told them where to go !!

So my advice is DO NOT GO TO MOTORPOINT because you will not be getting a good deal.

Sorry about the rant...

thx
Stiler

Something strange about MotorPoint imho.

For the past 2 weeks they have been advertising New Shape WRX for £16699 and new shape sti for about 21K in the Auto Trader.

I telephoned MP of Derby to see if I could go and have a look, to which they replied that they would be happy to show me the vehicles they had in stock.

When I arrive at MP of Derby (after an hours drive may I add)i find out that they have no new shape WRX or sti's in stock at all. They do not expect to receive any for another 8-10 weeks.

This happened 2 weeks ago, yet last week they were still showing the advert for the car in the trader.

I'm no legal bloke but if you've paid a deposit, haven't you made a contract with them and they are in breach of contract if they b*gger you around like this?

if you've paid, you should have a receipt and possibly a spec sheet / sales order confirmation for what you ordered with the prices on it - how about wafting that under their noses?

I can guess how you feel about telling them where to stick it but it's some info if you wanted to have a go at them (legally though and get some advise first (C.A.B. etc)...

Otherwise, have you lost your deposit (as they'll probably say you've pulled out of the deal unless what's above works in your favour) or can you get it back?

just read your bit again - is there something in their paperwork about currency rates as the exchange rate has dived steadily and this might be what's bumping up the price

When I got my import, 0.01euro on the exchange rate was about 100 quid on the bottom line (I got mine at 1.62euro/pound and it's now about 1.45ish... )

No I have'nt lost my deposit. It would not be worth their while to try and stiff me out of It as lets face it who would want someone in their showroom full of people shouting how CRAP the service is.. Plus the verbal agreement was thet car would get here by no later than end of feb-march, so they have breached the contract and I was also told it was a UK Spec car, which it is not.
But yes they are proceted with regards the the price in the small print.

Anyway they have lost my trade and a Subaru Main Dealer has got it..at least I know that the car now comes with some back.

Off today to go and finalise the deal at A&J's.

Yet to let you guy's know I am now a happy bunny. On May 24th I will be having delivered a 2003 WR Blue WRX from A&J Whites. Got a very good deal and really great guys.
Could not resist going into Motorpoint on the way back from securing my new car and giving them a piece of my mind.
All's well that ends well I guess.

laters..

Oh forgot to add I now now that the Motorpoint Subaru WRX cars come from CYPRESS (Not EU sorced Cars) with NO warranty at all and MP give then one year. I have been told by the Subaru main dealer that they will not do any warranty work on these vehicles as they do not come from the EU. This mains is could be some dodgy 3rd party company without the correct knowledge doing the work = NOT GOOD.

Don't know if it is still the case but Cyprus Scoobs used to be a very low spec compared even to UK models let alone Jap imports. Glad you got it sorted out in the end.
