i have had a 95 wrx type ra for a week i am well pleased with it, its my first impreza after countless RS,s etc. the car has been fitted with a very large "KAKIMOTO RACING" exhaust which is very loud! it is a full system from the turbo back, does anybody know if i could replace the back box to quieten it down a little, this would please the neighbours if so would a standard sti box fit or can you suggest one that would fit. Does anybody want a swap!!

Yes you probably could. I wouldn't recommend fitting on a standard BB though. Try something like a scorpion BB (Same as the Prodrive BB). That will quieten it down and give you the same burble of the flat four. There are loads of aftermarket motorsport places that could help you.

It sounds like your car is fully decatted which will also add to the noise.

thanks for that mate, the car has been de-catted, it was propably quite an expensive system when it was put on and its still in excellent condition so i think the neighbours might just have get used to it!!

I agree with Steve, ive got a full decat on my 96RA with a Scorpion back box, its only loud-ish when you boot it otherwise its 'sociable' but still very nice. Keeps the bill off your back too.

i've got full decat with a firestorm backbox, thats not too bad first thing in the morning unless i apply too many revs.... then it roars.

the Kakimoto exhaust is reasonably loud when the cars ticking over when it comes on boost it sounds awesome, it scares old people!! they definately hear it before they see it!
