Thinking of doing an Airfield day...r they any good

Assuming its 1st Lotus - 1st Class Groups of 4 per day, handling tuition on a 1-to-1 basis, so you take it in turns. Plenty of instructor time, and room to practice when you're not driving with him. Highly recommended, but if you're already well experienced in the basics of cornering/handling understeer, you may want to ask for a more advanced session.

Cheers Phil, yup it's a 1st Lotus day I'm looking at, me sideshowbob in his RX7, an elise and another Scoob wanting a go
I guess it'll be best I put my standard 16" wheels back on to save the expense burning my 18's out

Excellent day out - as stated 4 cars, only a small area, but plenty of time on track.
I pretty much knackered a pair of front tyres though !
Well worth the money & we're planning a return visit later in the year.

Megastream.
Yes, you'll put plenty of wear on the tyres - fortunately it was wet when I went, which helped in all respects. But..... don't you want to gain the experience on the set-up that you drive everyday???

Absolutely recommend the 1st Lotus airfield days!
However they can be quite hard on the car. I'm not sure about North Weald but at Crail the tarmac was very abrasive and a bit broken in places. If it's dry expect to loose the outside shoulders from your front tyres as a minimum.
Also at Crail the skidpan was covered in diesel which does wonders for your rust protection!
Think of the day as a hard trackday and you won't be far wrong.

Yeah done it as well - highly recommended. We had a great day out - a couple of Scoobs and a couple of Elise's. Andy Walsh is a very good driver. I found it much easier on the car than a normal track day. Well worth doing. He is also very highly rated by the TVR boys.
