last service, it was pointed out that the front exhaust heatshield was corroded, since started to rattle. mentioned it at service and dealer tightened it (which has stopped the rattle) but suggested a new one was required - couldnt be taken off cos of where it was.

just called with the price for fitting a new front exhaust heatshield - £228 !!!!!!!

told 'em i didnt want any at that price ! this is for the heatshield, gasket and 4 bolts (inc vat and fitting). apparently doesnt include any part of the exhaust.

if you buy a new exhaust, does it come with heatshields on or are heatshields themselves classed as seperate consumables ?

i mean, £228 for two bits of pressed metal and some bolts - jeezuz !

Has it corroded around one of the bolts?? If it has a large washer will hold it in place, and save you roughly 227.98

Don't pay for it to be done. I had this done 4 months ago and guess what, buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .
Cost me about £70 less than your price though.

There must be loads of people on here with decatted exhauts, who have their old exhaust in the garage etc. Have you tried putting a post in the wanted section.

Failing that do any other places sell them eg Scoobysport etc (even if they are not OE)

I'm guessing most of that wad is on labour to fit the bloody thing. I got a new one when they did my dp and i'm sure it was only about 13 quid......... (Tiley's at Bristol)

I had this on my sport, took it to local garage, and it turnded out thats theres a small narrow section of shield in the middle that causes rattle, he just pulled i toff and away I went. No more rattle

Get it to a garage & up on ramps, when underneath ratle the poeces of shild ing about till you find the bit I mean. I think it was towards the front.

When I took mine off to put on a down pipe / decat, found all the heatshields had been welded on!

we get alot of these coming into our garage, obviously the customer doesnt want to spend a fortune on a fairly useless part so we just remove them completely stops all rattle then and is very cheap on labour as it only takes 5 mins !! arent we a friendly garage then hey!
