The PPP on a UK turbo will give you 240 bhp and either 240 or 260 ft/lb of torque depending on the yoear of the car....99 and 2000 cars give the 260 ft/lb of torque.
With £10,000 you should get a nice 99 private or a 98 from a dealer but these cars arnt cheep to run so be prepaired for big fuel and service bills....oh and did i mention insurance but the costs are worth it.

hmm
for an sti your probs looking at about £2000 lol
i got a 10 k loan
bought the car for £8500, stuck 1 k down on insurance deposit with the view that after 1 year, i will have proved i can drive the car without being a risk (big jump from 1.7td vectra to this car) and the insurance should come down quite a bit next year

it also should allow a lot more people to cover me as i will be 25 and most places said no imports if your under 25

Cool

And on the Sti front, 10k should get you a nice Sti4 4 or 5 door, but not a Type R. Insurance will be more than a UK, running costs will be a little higher, especially petrol wise as they only like Optimax and SUL + octane booster ideally. Do not underestimate how annoying this can be at times. BUT, they are a lot faster than UK cars, have more toys, and are a lot rarer. You pays your money.... Buy carefully if you are after an import as many lack service history. However, a lot of STi 4s were imported new, so should have full UK history - I would hold out for one of these.

Try Liverpool Victoria - Tel: 0800 514 514
I've got a MY98 2000 Turbo was paying £1250, changed to Liv-Vic now paying £601 fully comp, fully protected no claims with wife as named driver - she's 28, I'm 31.

Question

Active,
how old are you?
Insurance will kill you if your under 30 in most cases (even if your over 30 too!) and running costs are considerably more than that of a ford escort.
If your paying 600 quid now, you are looking at 2k or there abouts for the same level of cover me thinks.

Red face

I went from a 306 GTi-6 which is a grp 16 car to a scoob which is a grp 17 car and my insurance doubled! (i was 31 at the time!).
Even now i pay less than 1k on my modified uk car (34yrs old) and 460 on the mondeo, i would suggest that you try using someone like liverpool victoria then but you may find it cheaper to run a uk car rather than an import.

Tesco good for mods and points.I have a modded Scoob and 9 points, and because you are talking to a pleb rather than a *proper* broker, you have a chance. The only have mods on a drop down menu, and brakes aren't on it for example.

I paid £1400 for a tuned MY98,with 9 points,I am 37 though

Cool

IN THE STICKS

Churchill are exceptionally mod unfriendly.... as I found out to my cost recently

Just a word of warning mate as I put a twin downpipe on and declared it to them and they cancelled my insurance immediately

Cheers
Si
