I went to my dealer today for my first service (well not me, the car) and while I was there I bought a set of the cheapie Subaru mudflaps, I have just fitted them and I think they look OK and I'm sure they will be effective, as a sidenote I was told that Subaru have now made a special flap for the Turbo's and they are about £50 a set. has anyone seen them or fitted them on their car??? Oh and by the way the service only cost me £56 with the mudflaps, cheap or what?.

Ron,
mine has the cheapy mudflaps, and i bought them without knowing the cost of the special turbo ones which i think are hideous, and as the cheap ones are fitted higher up they protect the scooped out part of the door bottom it means less cleanin/chip repairs
there hope yer happy now

How do you mean wearing out? how can a mudflap wear out , I could understand if they were falling apart cos the fixings onto the metal strip are not all that wonderful.

Hi Ron,
I had the cheapie Subaru mudflaps fitted and they were Ok - but I got the new Subaru mudflaps (fitted £92.00 for 4 at Intermoto Liverpool and they are not the splash guards)- they fit the side skirts perfectly and stick out quite far- no chips down the side of the car - they are black rigid plastic but do not have the 'Subaru' logo

the bottom of the mud flaps keep on bottoming out on the road - I live in the middle of the north york moors and there are humps and bumps all over the roads. I have had a bit of a running with my local dealer regarding a noise - they say its the mud flaps but I have taken the mud flaps off and it still makes the noise !
They still rekon its the bl88dy flaps ! aaaaaah

WigWam,
I appreciate the Anglia comment, but...
Hey, have you watched any rallying recently? It's not often that you see a WRC car without mudgards fitted! I want to get hold of a set for my car, to help keep it a little cleaner for a little longer between jetwashes.
I (freak of nature, maybe!) enjoy driving country backroads on a fairly regular basis, and these roads tend to have mud and gravel bits here and there, and mudflaps are a good way to keep stuff off the car.
If I wanted a car to look pretty I would have bought a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo and a cheap car for when it rains, lest I get the beast wet or dirty!
Cheers
