0-100-0 mph, How quick is a modified Scooby ?
#1
I had a quick scan of the MCN comic this morning and they did a bike against bike shootout, predictably the bigger bikes won and the new Gixxer 1000 came out top with a 10.89 time. How do the tuned scooby's compare, has anyone done the exercise here ?.

would estimate about 13-14 seconds for some of the quickest scoobs in the UK so far.
Would expect that to be under 12 for some of the cars being built now.
Norris Evo has done sub 6 second 0-100mph with about 700hp, and expect about 4.6 second 100-0 based on 1g decelleration (not unrealistic).

I am still waiting for the Abingdon Airfield date for the Scooby/MCNNinja shootout and they were claiming 11.8 0-100-0mph for the 2003 ZX6R, It may be a little closer than I first thought for the quicker cars if these figures can be believed.
Without doubt, any car which can touch those numbers must be a bit of an animal

MWP,
This thread refers to 0-100-0 ie, accelerate to 100mph, then slam on anchors and come to a stop.
400hp (non RA) Scoob would be in the 13-14 second range i should think (so 0-100mph of around 9 seconds).

I like my car too much to really launch it so I've no idea what my 0-100 time is.
But I've done a lot of brake tests and on some really grippy track my son timed us three times on the trot going from 104-0 (corrected for speedo error) in under 3.3 secs. Best was 3.24.
It's 1.3G, I believe, like an explosion and makes you feel sick! The ABS nearly rattles the doors off. And F1 cars accelerate quicker than that
On the bikes things, fastest 0-60 I know is 2.3 on an old long-wheelbase GSX1100-R (Chris Dabbs, MCN). Also, stopping a bike quickly takes real skill and huge ***** to just grab the lever really hard. In the Scoob, you just hit the pedal and let the ABS sort it out
Richard.
PS Yes, I have good AP brakes, tyres and suspension

mwp - it may have been you I waved at and you waved back in St Ives, as I was going out past the Industrial Estate you were coming towards me. I was in a DBM Turbo X reg, Gold Wheels with the missus in the passenger seat.

I have owned many so called superbikes, the last being a '93 fireblade.I now own a new 03 STi (waiting to be PPP'd) I can tell you that unless you are a 'fearless expert' you would either plough your bike straight into the back of a decelerating 'Scooby'(if you're lucky)or part company with the bike to achieve the figures quoted in the MCN article. On acceleration however, there is no contest.. the bike will always win. The MCN article is misleading regarding the 100-0 figures and even some of the 0-100 figures come to that. In the real world with real riders and drivers, the divide would be far less.

From: Kent in a 396bhp Scoob/Now SOLD!
Lets see how quick a powerful big bike do it in the wet with two passengers, a bass box, a spare wheel and 8 Iceland carrier bags of frozen shopping?
I think we can easily say that it is obvious the higher power/breaking to weight ratio of a bike is going to be an 'easy' advantage. Otheriwse you might as well challenge some children to a basket ball game!
How about only choosing bikes with the same power/weight ratio to an average scoob (400CC?), that'll actually show something 'scientific' and not stupid-ly obvious. Or is that it??
Otherwise, whats the point? It'd be like a trucker challenging a Biker to bring the most booze home from France..
