hi guys and gals, 2 weeks ago i picked up my first subaru, my99 uk turbo - bog standard.
started coasting through these boards a few days ago, the amount of knowledge here is amazing :P makes me feel like a lil kid all over again.
no doubt will be posting on here more, this was just to say hi.
I was in doubt wether or not to buy the car, but when i turned the ignition on i was sold, i drive my car witha big *** wide grin all the time.
1 question, after looking at my engine (bought from a dealer) the engine is kinda dirty, but i have been advised not to steam clean them because this could damage the electrics/fuses ? this correct or was the salesman saving himself some cash?

You have to be careful steam cleaning. I have seen this done quite badly on occaisions. Ususually looks ok until the bolts start to corrode.
I would suggest a bit of Elbow grease is needed to be honest
You may get other suggestions though.
My cars new at the moment so intend not to disturb the grease etc that is on the engine.

I was advised to use cd2 from Halfords (7.99). You get 2 aerosols. the first is a cleaner, the second is a finisher. Mail me and I`ll send you my before and after pics.
It did a good job.

Cheers,

I got my first scooby last Dec, and still smiling like a cheshire cat..
, so be warned you won't lose that smile unless some twatt has given your car a nice little dent, which I recently encountered....!!
Anyway, welcome and enjoy
