If I bought a 22b........

LOL @ James, I can only learn from the master
I doubt I'd go for cosmetic changes, as despite all the tarty things I've done to mine, I still prefer the looks of a standard 22b. The main reason for considering a change is the endless trouble I seem to encounter whilst creating a 'monster-ish' powered WRX. I love the 22b and wonder whether its unique-ness would leave me happy enough without having to go down the never ending engine upgrade road!

I tried to resist but i couldn't, but i have a cossie and the parts are a lot cheaper!, if i had to pay what scooby people pay(mate payed £750 for exhaust) then i would only do the normal mods eg. exhaust, filter etc....nothing to far(you won't need too).

I have been thinking exactly that, i've just bought a completely standard one and im already thinking about changing the clutch and uprating the brakes. Its such a nice day and they're geting rarer and rarer, half of me is saying Modify and half of me is saying dont touch it leave it how Subaru intended

At least, don't do anything you can't reverse without a prob!
22B should remain a 22B, after all, it's few of them left. Seen a couple on here with some ... mods Why don't you attack a "normal" scooby with your mods?

You've been a busy boy Disco.
Car sounds awsome by that spec sheet, wont you find a 22b a little slow after that? Though, you cant beat the look.
Of course you want serious specs you know what car to start with.

LOL at the 3 above
I haven't decide anything really, just considerations after Japfest. I looked at a few and couldn't get out of my head the fact that they are still one of my favouritely styled cars of all time. Something about those smooth arches really appeals to me.

Mate you'd want to do engine mods. Simple solution is just to crate the original engine and slap in a new one...the only thing you'd want of the original is the block anyway. I'll take you out in mine again one day soon so you can be reminded how slow they are relative to your car.
I've avoided big bhp scoobs as what you don't know you can't be jealous of...so I'm still very happy with my standard one.
If you haven't done it then I'd suggest you get a quickrack for your car next..that improves the 'fun' factor of the scooby by a suprisingly large margin.

I would never mod a 22B, I think its disgusting behavior.
John, in all seriousness, phone me!
in short if anyone is reading this. don't mod a 22B it is a financial mistake.
Not because it is any more expensive to mod than others, just because it is a foolish starting point.
If I could do it again, I would start with a type r. Once all running gear was sorted, then I would get hold of aftermarket panels and mod the body and wheels accordingly.
It just isnt worth the extra money to "rape" the car.
I only did mine, because
a) My engine died
b) second hand value is irrelevant, as mine will be in my possession forever.

I must be the only person who uses this site, who doesn't really see the point. Invariably, modifications that I've seen only served to make the car look cheap and "boy racer-ish". I've got a standard MY99 Turbo, and can't imagine making it look any better. If you want a quicker car, they are out there...
