at what revs the turbo starts spinning up, as upposed to the std MY03 WRX? Is it later? Wondering as I would like to know as it is would be useful to know how best to stay off boost on long cruises for fuel economy in my new motor,

The turbo spins at idle, but it doesn't make any boost until the boost threshold. However, above the boost threshold you can run a manifold vacuum by using part throttle.

For most efficient cruising put it into top gear and... cruise.

 

get a boost gauge, that'll tell ya!
