From: South Wales - Stuck on this rollercoaster, get me off!!
Octane booster is mainly used for jap imported cars, they are run over there on 100 ron, our nearest is optimax at 97 - 98 ron from shell, I use millers octane booster, 1 bottle per tank which gives that extra 2 ron.

I use Shell V-Power 100 octane available at *ALL* Shell stations in Germany! Before that ran on Optimax! Both in UK spec PPP RB5 and German spec STi-8 before that 98MY UK spec on SUL - Never had any problems using SUL/Optimax/V-Power!!! RB5 PPP hated the occaisional 95octane UL when I couldn't find SUL in UK! 98MY gave better MPG with SUL than 95octane!

Just a quick question. Is it really necassary to use octane booster in an Import. I am in the process of getting a STI wagon from a Jap importer and they have said that they will take care of everything including SUV. I was under the impression from their literature and talking to other Impreza drivers that this will make the car pretty much the same as a UK car. Obviously I want it to be more powerful.... (around 265bhp which is what they have told me) but is the octane booster to up power even more or must it be used every day if the thing is to run properly ?
Too late to cancel as cash has been transfered, but an idea of if I need to be bulk buying octane stuff would be appreciated.
Finally whats the best stuff to use then, and where does it come from ?
