Cant quite get my head around that concept. Surely there should be lights behind the covers? Arent us STI owners getting the raw end of the deal there?

No lights AFAIK.... it's always been like that from way back when the first STis rolled out with covers instead of fogs.

I would have to agree they look better with the covers imo.. plus less to get smashed by stones... and the new headlights are amazing anyway

My wife's Freelander has better lights than my 03MY Impreza, IMO they are better than the classic but still not good enough.

Why has no one produced some spots that fit in place of the fogs yet?

Vash .....''''The new headlights are amazing''' your having a laff arent you? My old car was a 172 clio and the lights are 10 times superior to my STI lights. They are about on a par with my 1971 mini I think.

Glad you mentioned this as it's always bugged me as well (don't know why as I don't own a STI).

I alwasy thought that the STI had foglights behind the covers until someone stated otherwise.

I own a 1976 Mini and a MY 02 WRX, and I can guarantee you the WRX is much better than the Mini. The lights on the Mini weren't ever designed to help the driver as someone at BL decided that the driver could do much better with just his night vision.

Unhappy

when I bought my STi I thought Subaru were having a joke that I had to get out a screw driver every time I wanted to use fog lights ( especially living in Switzerland ). Needless to say I wasnt the happiest Subaru owner the first time I took off the cover to find that some thief had already got there before me. I was a slight shade of red when I mentioned this to my dealer... and agree with the other comments, a maglight would be brighter than the dodgy lights on the STi7.

My last car was also a 172, and have to agree, the lights on my new WRX aren't anywhere even near the same level. I can't believe you don't get projection 'xenon' lights on the new impreza.

I always assumed they were just covers and the lights were underneath!!
Seems like a bit of a con......did you STi owners get a choice when you ordered the car as to whether you wanted covers or lights??

I got some smoked wrap around covers for my fogs off TSL that allow them to be used without removing the covers.

The STI is the RS500 of the cosworths maybe?

The little more attention to it's pedigree distances itself from a typical road car ala Wrx showing it's competition potential.

The RS500 lost it's fog's too, just had mesh grilles.

Just a shame a standard STi is slower than a WRX type RA really .

Chrisp- but you've added typeRA to the equation, the plot thickens.

R6 CDW- That would have been my original theory and perhaps Subaru's.

On closer inspection it really does appear that you could possibly have any combination Impreza from standard.

Maybe factory ordering at Subaru is just that bit more flexible or maybe people don't really know the full truth about their car's history and think they left the factory in the same spec as they received them?

Who know's??

2005 Impreza eco fuelled
53 bhp, 12mph/1000

Had fogs on my classic, got fed up with people flashing me all the time (even when it was foggy!)
So I do not miss them one bit.
Also had plasma 150w headlight bulbs in it, and I am sure the lights on my new 8 are just as good, if not better?

I appreciate mines is a classic (MY00) but I actually paid to hide the damn fog lights. Looks much better with STi covers, don't you agree?

Talizman

Certainly looks alot better

But...... yo know what's coming

You need to get rid of those orange wedges... spoils the look of the car at the moment IMHO

Cheers

I don't think it does and actually as it's not an STI i'd feel daft doing it.

Each to their own though.
