Go for the newest model you can afford, The comment on import/uk scoobs will provoke allsorts of mixed answers, JDM owners will swear by them and like wise uk owners.

Me i'v owned two uk cars and prefer the comfort of a uk warranty, for my own piece of mind.

Uk cars are just as high spec as JDM cars, apart from daft things like folding door mirrors.

The JDM service is a very big hit or miss afair, with a uk model you should look for it to be 100% intact.

all this is "IN MY HONEST OPINION"

CHRIS

Question

How do all you scoob lovers out there! Im after your expertease and advice in which scooby is the best buy at the mo... Ive spoke to people who "know evry thin bout subaru's but have never owned one!!!???!!!", and all have different tales to tell. Ive been warned about the imported wrx's because apparently there not undersealed and therefore are prone to chip and start rotting, also that you have to run them on super unleaded cos of the difference in ron levels in the fuel, plus you dont know what the hell has happened to them before they've been imported and that you should only buy one with a full history??? So which has lead me to think only UK versions are worth owning?? Please can you lot advise me, im after a 1997 to 2000 model. Thankin you kindly..

I've never had any probs with imports, owned a 93 Wrx for 2 years without any hickups, now just bought a import 22B. You will need to run imports on Optimax or SUL though and not all main dealers will touch them but there plenty of specialist companys out there that can get you parts and service it needs.

Thanks for the advice lads, thought i might of had a few more opinions but never mind.. I think personally i'll probably try and find a uk version with history like R6 CDW said, its piece of mind. Thanks anyway TRIPLE 6, ive gotta admit, the mention of a 22b made me green with envy!!!! As far as power difference is concerned, are the uk versions alot slower than the imports??

Personally it is better to buy a secondhand WRX or above then a new sport cause you will always wish you went for the quicker one. Well my dad does anyway.

Sure is, spent a lot of time reading through it. Really helped clear up lots of questions i had, aided in my final decision to purchase my car.
