Hi all,

Its great to see the BBs back, I'm thinking of getting a Impreza 2.0 5 door, Are there any members here with the 5 dr, they could let me know the good/bad points, also is there any web page I could look at that does the 5 door, and not the 4 door,

Cheers

I've got a 97MY 5-door and it's great. It's a bit noisy and rattly though, although I've hear the same said about the 4-door

A 5dr is the best model to buy, in fact, mines for sale (see the FOR SALE Section)

I have a 5dr too. Same experience as the 4dr, just more discrete! Maybe just a little more noise from the boot although nothing you can't live with.

Dark:

I'm not worried about the noise from the boot, I'm going to have a rather noisy puppy installed in the boot, so that should mask any odd noises!

Bobn3,

I have an STi wagon which is great! I agree that it is probably a bit noisy but then again, I do have a 6"X4" Magnex Back Box on it!

Best bit is the lok on people's faces when you leave 'em for dead in an ...Estate!!!!

Enjoy.

Mart.

I am in the somewhat silly position of having 96 Turbos in both 4 and 5 doors.

If I were to trade one in it would be the saloon. You can actually fit a pretty large dog in the 5-door boot and it is just much handier for carting stuff around (although the saloon is quite practical for a 4-door).

It would take a better driver than me to tell the handling apart. Likewise they both seem to go as fast as each other.

I feel any difference in noise levels could easily be explained by tyre choice.

And there are a lot less 5-doors around.....

I too have a 5 door. I wanted the saloon version but having a young child to cart around and liking my weekends away I need the luggage space. I've always been told that the 5 door is slightly slower than the saloon but not as much as makes a noticeable difference.

Trade in values for a 5 door are less too, but again not that much.

The main advantages of the 5 door over the saloon(apart from the luggage space) is that it looks like a weird honda civic. It does'nt shout 'please ram a screwdriver through my rear spoiler' or 'My nova will burn you up any day'.

If there is no 5 door in 3 years time when it comes to sell mine I will be stuffed as far as Impreza's go.

I've got a 5 door too!

Brilliant car, looks better than a 4 door, more discrete, handling is great, the car is a little noisy (probably something to do with de catted exhaust) but simply putting some high quality underlay in the boot has made it quite acceptable.

Don't wait, get one now!

I have owned 3 4-doors and now have a 5-door GTT.
Pros:
I like the different look. It's quite rare here in Holland (a lot of people haven't seen this car before and most like it),
the 4-door GTT's are all over the place here.
Luggage space can be made bigger.
Drives and handles the same as the 4-door (I was a bit worried it would handle less, because of the extra weight in the back).
Cons:
Definetly noisier and a lot more rattles than the 4-door.
Stereo sound isn't to good in the 4-door, but in that car you at least have the closed boot acting as a bass amplifier and with the right speakers can be made quite well; in the 5-door, rear speakers are mounted low in the rear doors, sound is VERY poor!! I improved it, but still not as good as in the 4-door and a lot of work trying to make things look original while making it sound better.
