Went to Harrogate at the weekend and this morning (Mon) woke up to find my scoob in the hotel carpark to have a lovely dent in the front wing.
There was no message on the car and i was not reported to the reception. After the search round the carpark for cars with marks and no joy we went back to reception again to find that the carpark had cctv. Every time a car moved that weekend i moved mine into a safer place. on the last and 3rd move, not realising it, i had parked it under the cctv camera.
We got everything on tape, from the driver walking through the hotel hall to hitting my car.
After talking to the staff i now had his full details and went on a mission to find him.
To cut a long story short, we found him and what a to$$er, he was not going to say or do anything about the damage and even tried to blame a work mate.
He worked for a company called "Showforce" based in east London, they do work for exhibitions ie erecting stands.
Hopping things all go smoothly now with the insurance companys now.
Any good recomendations for paint sprayers in the Guildford area would be handy.
Sorry to bore
Adam

Thanks for all your replies.
YES i have the video tape
The police didn't want to know due to i being a private carpark.
As you said wot69 "get him done" and that will be done now having the cctv tape in my hands.
BA$T@RD!!!!!!!!!!!
String pants. Are you a pro at this sort of thing, offering your services? (legal not sexual i hope !)
Thanks Adam

I think if you sent a copy of the tape to the head office of the company concerned and a brief outline of the conversation with the driver you may get a result, companies do not like bad press

Mate, as already mentioned in this thread...
"Go to his employers about this" especially if the car is registered to them".
that would *uck him up big time and teach the **** a lesson into the bargain!!!!
hope it goes well.

well if the insurance is sorting it out then ok.
personally i would have been more than a little pissed and would have taken the situation to the lawyers and done my worst to that lying martha fokker. can the cops really do nothing about it? get some legal advise and if the cops did not do their job, then tell who ever's in charge at that particular cop shop that you're taking action against them for being useless fannies! at least make an official complaint...its no wonder nothing gets done as some of these cops are really lazy ***** and don't want to know about crime!!!

All points taken, thanks.
Slacker tour points have been taken on board but like your username i'm also a bit of a slacker and as it's getting sorted now I can't be ar$$ed to have a moan.
I've found in life that saying "what comes around goes around" does happen and will get my own back on day.
One bonus is that the body shop said the bumper needs replacing due to not been able to respray it.
whoopie!! bye bye stone chips.
As this also happened it's made me buy a P1 lip today to get fitted when the work is done.
Thanks to all

Good of the hotel to give you the cctv tape.
Av the ****, i had someone reverse into the side of my car in a supermarket car park when i was in it, then she (yes she) drived off in her rav 4. i had to run and catch her and open her door whilst she was still moving! she seemed oblivious, got it sorted on her insurance though.

sorry to hear this m8
cops won't do anything? so if you get run over in a private car park they can't do anything?
mabey not for leaving the scene of an accident but surely
they could do him for criminal damage??
just a thought.

why is it that the police are never interested if someone hits your car, I lost £800 because of a hit and run a few years back and I had witnessed the reg plate and bagged a good extract of paint from the other vehicle.
But if you do 38 on a 30 ... ZAP... the police want to know about it, 3 points and a £60 fine, Thankyou!
I'm not saying all police are t0$$sers, in fact most of them are bl00dy good blokes or ladies. But I do feel that there seniours are deploying resouce in the wrong area and giving them a bad name.
Anyway now that i've had my rant , Glad you have you car all sorted

It's not just carparks. My wife was driving the kids to school last year when a bloke came out of a side road, didn't stop to look, just went straight into the side of my wifes car. He got out of the car and some witnesses told him to get his insurance details. So he got back in his car...and drove off. Luckily we got his registration and reported it to the police. I used elephant.co.uk to check that the registration was ok and it was. To cut a long story short, few months later, got a call from the police to say they couldn't trace the car and they won't be continuing their enquiries. The police woman on the phone repeated the registration and even though we gave them the registration on a piece of paper, they'd somehow mixed up 2 letters. My wife tried to give her the correct registration, but the police woman seemed completely disinterested.

Unfortunately, the Road Traffic Act only pertains to "public places", therefore within certain types of car park, the police have no powers as such. Any matter arising in there would be classed as civil and you would have to fund it yourself, but of course that what your legal cover is for!
As for the criminal damage question, for a crime like this one you would have to prove intent, ie that the driver deliberately and willfully damaged RB5's car. Practically impossible unless the nugget admits doing it deliberately. Then he can be charged.
With regards to burn outs etc, these incidents are viewed as disorder and a "public nuisance" therefore the police can enter as they are classed as "criminal" as opposed to "road traffic".
Hope this clarifys things slightly.
