what are your top ten Subaru mods
#1
I have been reading Scoobynet for a while now and was just thinking with all the mods that people carry out, what would they class as their all time top ten or for those that have not done many mods yet their top five mods.
It don't have to be a big engine upgrade it can be something simple like a set of side repeaters.
So if you was advising someone new to car mods, what would you list as a must have?

Decent suspension as scoobies sit too high (i love my Tannabi)
Alloys (most standard ones suck, p1 ones aint bad)
Exhaust (Nur spec for me
Decat (made a really big difference on my car)
Stereo (factory system sounds like farting through a wet towel)
Spoiler (need a nice ott rear wing on any scooby )
front mount ( top mounted interwarmers suck and fmic looks hard)
ECU ( coz its never quick enough )
seats (if ur car doesnt come with the buckets, sti ones if wrx)
Carbon bits (getting bonnet soon hopefully

4) Wheels - anthracite PD7's for me

6) Rear spoiler (too small on WRX)
7) Dump valve - 'cos I like the whooosh noise
8) Knocklink/guages etc to help monitor your unwarranted mods

GET A TRACKER AS FIRST PRIORITY - and some very good security. You don't really want to watch all your mods disappearing down the road. Believe me, I know what that feels like.

Bought my motor last Friday, already has the bump steer and 4 wheel alignment mods, also got a full decat and Corbeau buckets so now I'm looking at tidy bits like colour coding and a decent front grill. And I want a dump valve but I daren't ask what one!!!! lol

i'm thinking of getting a mirror fitted in passenger the sun visor of my STi8 as my wife keeps giving me those stupid "why did we change the car? we had a mirror in our last car" looks...

My top mods on my MY03 WRX so far are:
WRC grill
PPP
Quickshift
Colour Coded sills
Plus I'm going to upgrade the coils when they are eventually released by Prodrive, hopefully later this year.
Thats only 5
As for Bumpsteer, is this going to void my warranty?

I'll second the driver training as the no.1
Followed by:
2) a decent suspension setup
3) good tyres
4) nice bright driving lamps for hooning round at night!
5) good brakes - I'm a cheapskate, so I went with OE 4 pots
6) I'll let you know when I get there - such things as losing a cat or two and sorting out a remap are in there somewhere...

In order of Improvement vs cost
Bump steer
Anti Lift Kit
Brakes etc (330mm APs for me) Best mod of all though IMHO
Tyres Toyos on 17" but F1s are apparently better.
Ledas
Exhaust
Downpipe
Motec
Turbo MD 309
FMIC

As im paranoid about sti5 Type Rs going Bangggggggg! Not realy.
all the gauges monitoring oil this and oil that.
EGT gauge
AFR meter
Knock Link- ordered
A pallet of O.B, left over when i had my RA!
Water injection and a planned remap
A.P four pots, 330mm, so i can stop even quicker when it does go bang.
And i havnt got the car yet.

Top ten, hmm, dunno if I could come up with ten, but here are my few:
* Bumpsteer removal
* Uprated braking system (especially if still using 2-pots) Personally I'd go for movit's or AP 6-pots
* Uprated wheels and tyres (18" with Toyo Proxies T1-S)
* Advanced Driving Course
* Never Empty fuel tank

It looks like most people do tyres, suspension and exhaust mods to start with and then possibly split into 2 groups, one group goes for power mods and the other goes for the aesthetics.
