exhaust question
#1
ok so i dont have a standard exhaust, and i havent told my insurance company. To be fair i didnt know it wasnt standard before i purchased the car (didnt know much about cars), turns out its not standard.
I called the showroom i purchased it from today and the chap told me that its just the back box that has been altered, so giving me no extra BHP.
Is this correct? the previous owner had a louder sounding exhaust put on just for the noise?
Do i have to declare this to my insurance company even if it doesnt improve the performance?

If its a non standard part then I would if I were you. I declared just my back box and then the mid section when I had that changed. If you have to claim they will do anyhtiong rather than pay up, not worth the risk IMHO.

Pretty sure Quikfit put hundreds of non standard exhausts on to old lady's Fieasta everyday - doubt they tell the insurance You have a right to replace the parts on your car with non Subaru bits. Also I have Toyos on my whels and Bridgestones are standard - should I report this too as it effects handling of the car more than an exhaust - what do you say ??

have to agree with post above, but the problem arises if the replacement gives a performance gain, which being honest they usually offer less back pressure=more BHP, its all a bit of a gamble really, ive seen a few posts from people insured with the likes of liv vic who have not increased premiums but have excluded the perf mods from the policy
