Mods, could you keep it in here for just a few hours as ive only had a couple of replys in tyres & brakes, cheers chaps!
Just got hold of the A.P brake kit, excellant piece of kit- but.

What bothers me is the lack of dust seals on the pistons, what experiances have you had with them without the seals?
My old scoob only done around 5000 miles a year and only went out in the wet a handfull of times. So the new scoob will be treated the same.
Do you think il have problems with the pistons seizing or am i worrying to much, ie, give them a spray of WD every now & again!

Question

I had a chat with Ian from Godspeed and he told me about this (its the wrong time of night though ) but you will get normal use out of them but they will need rebuilding about twice as often as the normal calipers (you should have a good 40k out of them though )

What caliper do you have , if you have the 5200 calipers they do have dust seals , but you can't see them , they are in the bore , other calipers have a outer boot that covers the pistons even when they come out of the calipers , the 5200's dont , Cheers Ian

Thanks for the input guys!
These calipers are 5200.
Never ceases to amaze me at the amount of expert information you can get on here.

Interesting...the engineer that specs the kits at AP, stated a good 3-4 years and 50K miles....(depending on track day usage)....

The only thing that you need to do when changing pads is to make sure you clean the pistons before pushing back into body.......

Cheers James, i dont expect to get through pads like that anyway, but a bit of a clean with a nylon brush and w.d every few months and i reckon they'l be fine and like you say, clean the crap off the pistons before you try and push them back in.
If Ian reckons they'l be ok, thats good enough for me!
