Thanks for the pretty harsh replys, not realy a need for that.
It was imported in 93 altho its a K plate ? and has always been registered as a GL apparently.
Basically the general opinion is to contact the DVLA and get it changed then.

From the SIDC FAQ:
"1.8GL"
A very special special! In 1993 Subaru UK brought in 6 Impreza WRX RSs, the development car which led to the RA. Due to type approval regulations, the cars were registered as 1.8GLs! 3 went to Prodrive and were presumably smashed to bits in a forest, while 3 went to Subaru UK who later sold them as used cars. At least one is known still to exist. Yes, it says 1.8GL on the registration document. Yes, it has a 2 litre engine with a huge turbo under the bonnet ...
Sounds like you got yourself a proper rareity there mate

So this car might be rare as rocking horse **** then !!
Its defonatly got a big turbo there, with an intercooler and not just a bonnet scoop !
Got another question, why is there a spark plug screwed into part of the turbo ?
and how do i tell what type of turbo it is then

My MY00 RA was registered as a 1.8GL took two goes to get it to say Subaru Impreza WRX.
Put it this way if you dont get it changed and the police to a PCN check you could be stopped on a regular basis .

Tell the insurance company! That way your covered, otherwise your screwed if they find out, hopefully not after an accident. They will not pay out if they find out its not a GL no matter if you knew or not. You will have made a false declaration on your proposal form and you will be liable.

Check the model code on the VIN plate. the VIN plat is under the bonnet passenger side wing at the top by the suspension turret.
If its a 1992/93 WRX then it shoudl have a model code of either
GC8A48D - 4 door WRX
or
GC8A47D - WRX type RA
and to answer you next next 236bhp on JDM fuel
Its all in here section 2.1.1 and more. Worth a read as it will answer 99% of newbie questions.

er no, however this happens to me when I put my reg into a insurance website or call them up, it comes up with WRX GL and a super cheap quote! which would be nice, but totally silly. One insurance advisor advised me to check my car out with the DVLA, however the reg docs are fine and my best mate was the previous owner so I know its chicken soup.
