From: Markyate.Imprezas owned:-wrx-sti5typeR-p1-uk22b-modded my00. Amongst others!
Recovering from major surgery today, hand from walletitus. P1 went into its 30,000k/2 year service today.
£500 from local dealer (cheapest 'local' was £450 but my service had to be done by the 3rd) and a nice runabout in a green corsa.
I think its a clever ploy for dealers to offer out such courtesy cars. I did 40 miles in the nova, sorry corsa, and by God have promised myself never again. Youd think a 5k car would be easy to drive! It rolled everywhere at low speeds, and the gear change was so loose my elbow ended in the boot everytime i had to THROW into 2nd or 4th.
A special mention to the wing mirrors that hardly show whats behind you (very important as they will soon be overtaking you). Whilst Im bitching, the clutch had more travel than Micheal Palin and where was that nice little left foot rest thats in Subarus! These are supposed to be town cars, yet my Impreza is far better equipped for town driving than this thing!
So these dealers are canny things, not only do these courtesy cars cost them nothing to run, they also make you want to NEVER part with your Impreza for anything else!
Note to Mods: non scooby related with a smudgin of other marques, a dash of Dealer and Third Party Supplier Queries and a brush with muppet forum = scoobynet general
Dont worry Im getting my coat

LOL - I once spent 20 minutes arguing about not paying for insurance on a 2002 nissan micra courtesey car. When they finally gave it to me for free, I took it back within 3 miles as I just could not face being in it
The rest of the story goes that I walked into town and broke my arm on an ice skating rink but I'm sure you've all heard me tell that one before

If you'd had SIDC discount 10-15% you'd have membership free and £20 extra in your back pocket

Corsa's are crap
I'm glad someone agrees.
And against common opinions in my area.... Scooby bonnet scoops or round light conversion does'nt make any better
As the 'ol saying goes you can't polish a turd

Thought I'd add (to stay off the corsa cloberring)
Did have a standard Impreza 1.6GL (or sommat) as a courtsey car. I was shocked at how different it drove compared to the Turbo. Like even worse brakes and it rolled like a boat in a storm.
But then they are'nt really designed to **** around in like the Turbo's

I know which dealer you went to then..... and I bet they charged you extra £8 fpr the priveledge.
Was it the dark green one ?
I think that's one of the 3 cylinder motors (as is the silver one as well I think).
I have to say, as cars go, they are truely awful, and I don't just mean that in comparison to the Scooby.
I've had a fair share of cheap motors in my time, but I have to say, having driven these "convenience" cars (they don't like to call them courtesy cars) I would sooner knaw my own arm off than own a Corsa.
Did you also find that the gear change is like a pudding stirrer and that the accelerator pedal is heavier than the clutch ?

Monks Heath, gave me a brand new Legacy with zero miles on for nothing (and zero petrol), Monty's of Sheffield flatter you with a 7 year old justy, which can just make it to the ski village without being towed.

When my car went for bodywork I got a 1 litre Micra. It was the finishing touch to the vandalism that my car suffered. The final straw was being charged £100 by MY insurers for the priveledge. I was well chuffed!

A hot topic ! I've had an Isuzu Trooper from Mill Lane, at the first roundabout going into Basingstoke it felt like being on the top deck of a double-decker bus - the cabin of the car takes an entirely different line from the wheels....
Worst one was a Renault Clio from Mill Lane - it seemed to go in all directions at once, and putting your foot anywhere near the brakes caused it to stop, instantly and abruptly. Approaching a junction was a real pain, trying to stop it smoothly resulted in it stopping yards before the junction, then you'd have to drive a bit further to the line. I took it on the motorway at one point, it nearly blew away. I've never felt so unsafe driving a car.
Best one, amazingly, was a Daewoo Matiz from NFL bodyshop. It was fun, and actually went pretty much where it was pointed. Stirring the gearbox gave a surprising amount of go from 800cc in a buzzy low-geared tearing around kind of way

Before the new shape scoob arrived, it seemed every time I took my RB5 in for service,I always ended up with a PROTON thingy(10th anniversary special apparently). Just a gentle touch on the brakes and the rear wanted to change places. My fiance refused to get in it.Now I get a WRX or a Legacy as I have and STI.
