South Of France & Back In The Scoob

Just got back from a week away in France - drove from St Malo to Beziers (ish) and back via the Dordogne region.
Wow, what a car - cruised at 100mph all day no problems, and rocketed from there upwards to 150mph to waste the odd Merc or Beemer!!![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Only problem was fuel consumption - even when I dropped to 80/85mph for a whole tank, I only got 19mpg![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
The other worrying thing was the bonnet flapping in the breeze like no tomorrow
At 130mph it was all over the place!!!!
Great fun all round though - wasn't too bothered about fuel economy, more worried about not getting overtaken![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Not really m8 - because she's so thirsty, you have to stop for fuel before you get too tired/uncomfortable, so it's no problem!!!
Air con is a big plus - had mine re-gassed before we went cos it wasn't doing much before and I'm sooooo glad I did -- we had 42°C in Bordeaux!!!!!

A good idea is to change the A/C filter as well.
It was very hot in France these last 2 weeks.
Be careful in the south west, lots of car thieves.
If you come to the Rieviera, give me a shout and you can show me yours and I'll show you mine

What do they call SUL in France? Is it obvious - ie do they have the octane number written on the pump?
Going there next week, I'll fill up before I leave Blighty (company fuel card - means I only pay 40%!) but won't make it through without filling up again.
thx.

Hadn't heard from you since your trip to France but you obviously had a good trip !.
Out of interest, I got 22 mpg overall on my 1,000 mile jaunt to France, so yours at 19 mpg is not that different and mine was mostly at silly speeds as well - standing starts against a 5.7 litre, 420p bhp, Cobra and blasts with Porsche 911/Lotus Elise, etc, didn't help !.
My bonnet was the same at anything over 100mph. However, if you tighten the rubber adjusters on either side of the bonnet (located either side of the radiator and not actually on the bonnet) you can reduce the movement significantly. However, you won't eliminate it as the bonnet scoop isn't exactly aerodynamic !.
Out of interest where did you get your aircon recharged - Granada Motors or somewhere else ?.
