My dealer read out a letter to me on the phone this morning - which they have been asked to pass on to P1 customers.

The letter (from Ed Swatman) was apologising (*gasp*) for the delays on P1 deliveries, and seemed to confirm what we already suspected/knew:

the P1s are delayed because of problems with one component (the front bumper)

they have 200 P1s "ready to go" at Quedgely, subject to the fitment of the new front bumper

deliveries of these cars are expected to be made as soon as new bumpers are available - early May.

they have 500ish cars already in the UK, they have been working overtime and over the weekends to get as many as possible prepared as quickly as possible

soooooo although we're fed up waiting, I guess we should be grateful that there is now an official apology, a recognition that we're all fed up waiting, and (at least) an official excuse

problem was paintwork - the paint was a bit flaky I think, and the bumpers were highly prone to stonechips

A bit of money off, or a Prodrive floor mat for the extra wait???

I was at Listers in Worcester today. They had a P1 demonstrator AND a shiny new one waiting for a customer....

I was told it was the rear spoiler. More bum info I suppose. I'll check it out. Wonder what the chances are of some kind of gesture of goodwill from Subaru or am I just whistling Dixie! Do they know this BBS exists?

I was emailed the letter last week (copy sent to Phil - if you got it)....my dealer suggested that it was the rear spoiler, although I was under the impression that it was the front that was causing all the problems. Anyway, I have been advised that delivery to resume early May...1st couple of weeks....but who knows....deeerrrrr deeeerr deeerrrrr deeerrrrr....spooky huh....think we've been here b4??!!....

hil, hows the quote doing??...any joy?

Rum,
Got the fax ta! very interesting to see Subaru grovel if only to their dealerships, hope they do the same for us when the P1 arrives. Early May sound O.K. but I've heard it all before. Got a quote from Prestige circa £795 but haven't really studied it. Will give you a shout before comitting. Any news on the Alfa 156?

Phil.
