AirCon

Just a quick one (I have a MY03). I realise that it's a humid, muggy day buy I've noticed recently that when I have the fan set to 'Auto' and 'Temp' set to the blue dot that the AirCon only seems to chucks out mildly cool air. This doesn't seem to change that much when I have the recirculate air button on either. I would have expected that the air, at the settings descibed above, to be cold rather than mildly cool or am I expecting too much?

I'm not too impressed with the aircon on my MY02, but to be fair i am compairing it to the VW Passat i had before which was fantastic. It does blow cold if set to minimum and fan (not auto), but as soon as you increase it 1 notch the temperature rises dramatically.

My STI 8 works fine, I have it set 2 to 3 notches above 20 C and it cools the car down fine. I can also set the middle 2 vents to cool the rear seat passengers.
It is almost as good as the climate control that I had in the Legacy

I think it maybe depends on what you expect. I too had a VW with air con and it would blow a lot colder than the 03 Subaru does. In saying that the Subaru isn't bad but you would have thought that the Japanese would know about air con as I believe it can be extremely hot there. On a very hot day the air con is better than opening the window but unlike the VW it doesn't come close to getting the car too cold to sit in :-)

My 03 is like a freezer with it on 20Deg - although yesterday it did take 10 mins to get the car properly cold ....... mostly due to the 28 deg outside temp!
I had an E36 M3 that only blew cool air until I had the gas re-charged ........ then it was painful with it on minimum!
Get a dealer to re-charge the gas!

Just another thought on this.
Refrigerative airconditioning should work better in high humidity because it also acts as a de-humidifer and so you get a dual benefit of cold and dry air being blow onto you.
