engine bay paint quality
#1
I bought a new 03 WRX about a week ago, and was showing a mate the engine and he imediatly noticed that the paint under the bonnet and the engine bay is not the same colour as the body, it is a dark blue that is not even finnished, yet my car is WR blue.
When you look at top of the wing where it goes into the engine bay you can see the different colour even with the bonnet down.
He works in an audi dealer and sees a lot of px cars and has never seen a newish car the different paint without it being a a front end shunt.
Is this how all wrx's are finnished ? or have i got a dodgy car.
When i picked it up it did have 25miles on the clock, but when asked i was told that it was driven up from another dealer hence the miliage...
I will post some pictures if i can find the lead for me camera !!

Deffo nowt to worry about They just don't bother with lacquer to save on cost, Ford, as mentioned above don't seem to bother with colour, they just leave em in primer
I have a Ford before you slag em off btw

My99 was like that from new, i'm sure they used the overspray to enter the engine bay so they don't have to spray it. LOL
Welcome to scooby ownership. As people have said it keeps the weight down, wait for a few more months and you will find the front end of the car will look like it's been sand blasted. Good news is, mine has not started to rust though.

I think all scoobs are the same - open the boot lid ad look at both the underside of the lid, and the actual surround above the tail lights. If its like mine, it looks like it hasn;t been laquered. This is the same under the bonnet. Even the inside of the filler cap is like this.
