Please note that for international customers, it is your responsibility to
pay duty/customs/ tax/brokerage fees on your site before you receive your
item. FedEx drivers will be in charge of collecting all the
duty/customs/tax/brokerage fees from you.
Looking at getting some stuff sent over from the U.S and wanted to know how much the postage was, I got a new figure sent to me with this paragraph attached.
Does this mean that when it gets delivered, i have to pay even more?
If so, how do i work out how much it is?

Mikey, this is true !!!!
I've had it in the past, don't quote me but I understand that if the items are over a certain value then you'll be subject to import duty at 17.5% !!!!! and yes the Fed-Ex driver will not hand over the goods until you have paid the duty...

Long distance VAT then?
If it is 17.5% then RIP off britain is certainly having a laff.
Including shipping, this bizarre tax and the items, I would have bought :
A load of carbon interior stuff
A Strut brace
Quick Shift
STi Foglamp covers (Translucent)
for the grand total of £103.54
The same stuff in the UK would have cost me £250 ish + VAT![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)

If the value of goods is over £18?, customs can open the box to check it's contents and charge you £26 for their time.
Had this twice in the past month!! and that is not including VAT charges on the goods!
I won't buy anything from the USA now unless it is valued at $20![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
P.S. It works!

Other option may be to get the bits sent to a friend/relative in the States and get them to send it on to you as a gift. Should get you out of any import duty and VAT.
Some stores in the US will mark parcels as "gifts" if you ask them to, but this doesn't always work with Customs unfortunately.

You will be liable for duty and VAT, so it will be somewhat more than 17.5%. The exact level depends on the goods involved. In view of the stuff you list my guess would be that you will pay, in total, between 20 and 25 percent on it.
Annoyingly you also pay this duty on the actual postage cost as well. That really bugs me. Plus, as already mentioned, you will be charged for having some bloke open the packet in order to charge you.

i had a snowboard sent over fron the states , cost £300 , and didn't get charged a penny !!its almost like lucky dip so you seem to get charged only if they pick on your package
