With all the insurance companies finding excuses to up their premiums it occured to me...
If you fit a "performance" Back box it's declared a modification and up goes the insurance.
But what difference does it make if you go to say - Kwick Fit and fit one of their cheepo "Own" brand backboxes?
Both are'nt manufactureres original exhausts. It it could be possible that the cheepo exhaust gives more BHP (unlikey - but who has tested it?)
So surely, either you'd have to declare that to insurance company (non-original exhaust). Or it's just a load of crap, and really - if challanged, do they have a leg to stand on?

I advised my backbox and they asked me if it increased the performance. I just said i didnt know, the only reason i got it was cos its s/s and has a lifetime guarantee. She didnt put it down as a mod and i didnt commit myself to a yes or no answer.
