There I was, driving at 50mph at the back of a line of four cars, on a narrow road, behind a lorry, patiently waiting for a chance for us to overtake safely when a Mondeo ST screamed alongside me and tried to cut in. It was such a stupid move that I decided not to give, so he had to pull back behind me. Fair enough, but this stupid ******* had the temerity to gesture at me as though his recklessness was somehow my fault. The following twenty miles or so he began to appreciate just how pathetic Fords are. It takes considerable provocation before I become this incensed.

I understand how you felt, but wasnt your refusing to give way almost as dangerous as his idiotic manoevre was in the first place?
If he hadnt been able to drop in behind you and a car had been coming the other way......
Sometimes its better to give way and let the idiots get on with it.
Just my thoughts

Its amazing how quickly you can read the situation and make a decision within a split second. Im sure that if it was safer to pull back then he would have done. Like wise, sometimes you know its going to be safer to have the nutters behind you.

That's how I was when I owned a Reliant Robin. It all happened so fast that it would have been dangerous either way, and hard braking to let him in would have been just as daft. It really didn't bother me too much, and I would not have reacted until I saw his aggressive gestures in my mirror and his crazy tail-gating. He must be one of those rare drivers who bully their way through life, and even rarer, has not heard of WRX performance.

You were in the wrong.
He may well have been doing a perfectly legal overtaking manoever and you blocked him from re-entering the lane. Have a look at the highway code. You'll probably find that you should always leave enough room for a car to pull back in safely after an overtake. You're obviously one of those drivers that sit behind a slow vehicle and play "follow the leader" and drive far too close to the vehicle in front preventing faster drivers from overtaking safely, the result being huge tailbacks.
