as above really, we have all had the benefits of group buys on here but i was just wondering has there ever been a group buy on remaps?

Now i realise that it would have to be done in stages due to the time involved in mapping, but are there any mappers out there who would be interested in catering 4 a group buy on TEK3?

Try for tek2, may be more appealing to the dealers etc.
I'll keep me eye on this..

Andy,
Try getting one going a lttle like the knocklink sensor one.
People had differing requirements.
Sensor only - sensor & display - display only etc etc etc....
You would need to guage the numbers of peeps interested and what they required, then approach a supplier to ask for discount showing numbers etc.
I personally would be interested in a Tek2.
Cheers
Chris

I will watch with an interest.....

But I'm a different case a I already have a Tek2, but would be interested in Tek3.... I know this makes it cheaper as I have already paid the license fee to ECUTEK

Cheers

ok, only a small response, B4 any more interest can be generated i really need any of the mappers out there to either kill this thread by stating that they are not interested,or spark it to life by actually replying with information regarding, i.e how many people we would need to make it worthwhile to all parties concerned please.

Please respond to my e-mail address if you prefer

There is a good chance I would go for an MY00 Tek 2 if available at favourable group buy rates.

ok, I have now had a mapper contact me in favour of a group buy on remapping, we would require 10 people for this to go ahead, I still need to clarify with the mapper that this is only for TEK3.

The mapping would be done on a rate of three cars a day, so if you are interested in Tek3 get your name down

My choice would be dependant on the price offered, as well as the location of the mapper.
Reason tek2 is easier is that yo ucan get postal versions done.
Matt.

Question

Would be interested in a TEK 3 (MY UK'99)
Or would that be a TEK 2?

Tek-3 is a custom map for your car alone. Tek-2 is off-the-shelf, and is appropriate for cars with mild modifications (exhaust, air filter).

Remember Guys, where any amount of people are buying a product you will get a reduction shall we say, but my advice would be to go for the TEK 3 on all occasions. The price difference isnt that much from the TEK 2 and is mapped for your specific car where the TEK 2 is a program set for the lowest common denominator (ie. the worst possible car)and doesnt give the better cars the same gains that can be achieved with the version 3.

Good luck with your negotiations.

Zippy

...but the mappers would be much more keen to offer a bulk discount on Tek-2 maps. That's because it takes very little time (what, 5 mins?) per vehicle. Whereas, a custom map may take an hour or more. If a g/b on Tek-3 were available at a good price, then it does make more sense to go for Tek-3 rather than to go for a Tek-2.

Well, I'm in the middle of a fairly big upgrade: FMIC/turbo/injectors/headers etc. I'll need a custom map at some point. It may need to be at somewhere than can assemble all the parts onto the car, though.

Definatly interested in a Tek 2 Postal

Tek 3 would be nice, but funds may not be sufficent, and it would depend on who the mapper is (not so much who but location)
