does any body know when the e u import 2003 impreza needs its first service

 

check your manual as it differs from year / model. And country of purchase.

My Benelux 03 WRX.

is 1k /(oil change, checkover)
7.5k / 12 months Oil service
15k / 12 months Service
22.5k / 12 months Oil Service
30k / 12 months Service

repeat as required with spark plugs and belts at the appropriate big service.

 

I thought they'd moved the service interval in-line with other countries and upped it to 15K kilomteres - i.e about 9K miles.?

Hmmm Benelux site does indeed still list oil changes every 12.5k Km (7700 miles) and "Normal" service every 25K km.

nearly 1000 miles on my EU 03 wrx and have been told by the dealer den haag and subaru benelux it does not need 1000 mile oil change and checkover, first service is at 15000km or 12 months

 

The dealer that sold me my Dutch MY03 import (Gertjan) said the same. The 1,000 mile service is not needed on Benelux cars.

However I decided to have it done and the dealer put a stamp in my book in the first space, which I seem to remember was for 2.5 litre engined vehicles only. I will now follow the service intervals in the book, including the oil change.

Don't think there is a definitive answer on this one but I would do at least what your importer says as they will be the ones to authorise future warranty work.

i was thinking of having a 1000 mile oil change but was told any servicing not required would invalidate the warranty

also what kind of alarm did you get fitted, how much did the service cost

2. Copy of the service manual indicating the PDI was carried out in an EU Member state, presumably where it was shipped to from the manufacturer.

3. Copy of the EU certificate of conformity validating the VIN.
4. Copy sales invoice from the supplier in Holland to Supplier in the UK


If there is any additional information you require please do not hesitate to contact me.

The service schedule is printed in the Service and Warranty booklet I trust that this is the one to follow:
5000km (3,105) miles) 3 months
15,000km (9,315 miles) 12months
30,000km (18,630 miles) 24 months etc


Please can you inform me that my Warranty is registered and will be valid in the UK?

Information from Service Garage
Don’t do any other servicing as it could be held against you, and anyway it’s not necessary as IM know what they are doing with service schedules, follow the service book to the letter.

 

Ditto Matski. My Dutch import WRX 03 has service intervals every 10k miles - the same as UK sourced car which is as you would expect.

 

Well I'm due to pick my euro-import up on Wednesday and so dont have the service manual book to refer to but as above the Benelux Subaru web-site still shows oil changes @1600 Km (1000 Miles) and services every 25K Km (15K Miles) with oil changes every 12.5K Km (7.5K Miles)

Anyone care to scan/photograph their import service manual to show no 1600Km oil changes and serices every 16/15K Km (10K Miles) ?

It would appear the web-site is indeed talking out of date b*ll*x - well thats one less service to worry about before I go up to Scotland for my first big trip in it.

I checked with Gertjan before getting the service done and he said it was not needed as far as he was concerned but that he was not bothered if it had been carried out. As there is not an official dealer stamp space in the book you could have it done without anyone noticing (though i'm sure the dealer would have a record on their system).

I felt the 80 quid or so was not exactly cheap for a glorified oil change but went ahead and had it done anyway. This also allowed me to meet the (friendly) local dealer who I had snubbed by buying Dutch.

I fitted a Clifford 300 alarm and have had no complaints to date. Cost 300 quid fitted down here.

The 1000 mile service is normally needed because the car is supplied with thin mineral-based running-in oil. This needs to be flushed and replaced with a synthetic oil.

If the 03 cars are supplied from new with the synthetic oil then it's possible that the 1K service isn't required.
