I need some help!

My car (98 My Type R (no STI)is due to go in to the garage for a diagnostics check as it failed its MOT with 1.34 Co at idle, could this be the cat or a sensor, if so which one?

if the cat is dead i was planning a Cat replacement pipe and helpful MOT station, i have read some threads about needing a re map with de cat pipes is this the case, i use Optimax with a very ocasional tank of Super

also i need some ignition leads, my car has one coil pack with the 4 leads going into it on the top of the engine (in the centre just below the Inter Cooler) i am really struggling to get genuine leads, can anyone suggest a helpful dealer for imports in the NW area (Cheshire)

Thanks

Don't know if they will be able to help, but I've always found Robinsons in Rochdale very helpful for anything. Might be worth a try, their number is 01706 716 655

Rocking horse poo apparently, but they do exist.

May be that your lambda or MAF sensor has packed in. It should pass with a cat still in the downpipe. Any ECU fault codes?

Wink

Ray,
you want to go to Pro Sport in Stockport, give Pete a call on 0161 432 9999 (its off the M60 at the Pryamid, then follow towards Didsbury).

Yes Chaps it is a Non STI type R No. 234 of 1000 according to the little plaque

I don't know how to extract ECU codes, so none yet

It did have a really bad mis fire on light throttle, while i was in france i had to limp home as the recovery company were useless, this was believed to be a MAF problem but went after i poked about with the leads, and The 3 wire orange MAF the car has is apparantly very reliable, it also checked OK on a computer

So i assume i killed the cat on the drive, would a broken Lamda put on the engine warning? mine is not on and the car seems to run OK, a bit black sooty round the tail pipe but no other side effects
