Last night on my way home from work I got the "cool car mate " from a kid on a bike (I'm sure you've had this kind of thing ),Whats your reaction ? Do you sort of ignore them and hide behind your sunglasses ? (like me ) Or do you give them the thumbs up and plant your right foot just to make thier day ?What do you do ?

I have this loads when i go see my bird, there are loads of kids playing near her house... They actually came knocking on her door and asked if they could have a drive in it.... I told them to get a note from there parents and i might consider it.. 10mins later one of them came back with a digital camera and started taking pics of it..... Fame at last..
The most funny one so far was from a 6-7 year old kid who was with his mum in the petrol station and they walked past my car and i could hear him say
"mum look its......... its..... the bat mobile....."
LOL.... he then said
"is your car the bat mobile..."
i just laughed..... my car is silver...!!

I get it a lot from the local lads who live by me, one of them even bought his radio controlled scooby round by mine whilst I was washing it!
We test drove an S2000 the other weekend, and my Mrs pointed out that with the scooby it is always the young lads looking and commenting, but with the S2k apparently we had lots of admiring looks from Women instead which cant be bad!

I have had many kids shout the same thing. Many have told me that they have a radio controlled car at home just like it.
The least you can do is give them a big grin.
I told one kid he was "clearly a man of taste and upbringing" only for his dad to pop his head round the corner, p155ing himself laughing.

Sad isn't it how we're all still boys but with bigger toys:
I was delighted when 13yr old nephew (who's father completely disinterested in cars) said "cool new motor" and leapt in for a look!

Always ...group of kids near my house on bikes, give me the wave and thumbs up.Rude not to give the right foot a little nudge!
Car park guys at work always want to move the car and park it somewhere else (dont worry i check the mileage before i leave) and have quite a few comments of "nice ride", "their quick aren't they" to just plain "NICE".
Makes my day i can tell you.

Had a few girlies shout out "stunning car mate"; I was so embarassed;
as firstly they were attarctive so should I stop and pick them up, secondly as they were near my 15 year old daughters age and thirdly I hope I hadn't been spotted picking my nose....

was out at Burger king today and went to the drive thru. now being in Northern Ireland the window to collect the food was on the passengers side so i had to lean right over to collect the food. while i did so i stood on the loud pedal and redlined her in neutral. the young lad smiled and said and i quote "you can accidently hit the accelerator again if you want"
made me smile anyway.
cheers

Always the thumbs up - get them "on side". All the kids in my street call me "Mr Subaru" and they all love it.
It's beneficial too, if you think about it. All those same kids are likely to be watching the car when you're out, and are likely to notice someone trying to mess with it, and raise the alarm to their folks.

Yep, happens to me all the time, and as has been mentioned before, always a good idea to make some kids' day, blip the throttle and give 'em the thumbs up. Keeps 'em sweet, and encourages them not to mess with it when parked up, and keep an eye out too.
Funniest one I had was going over a hump-backed bridge, not fast but in a low gear so quite loud. Three lads on bikes on the bridge started doing the 'I'm not worthy' worshipful hand movements as I approached, and while I went over - Pi55ed meself !!!!

Not long ago at about 2AM, whilst filling the Scoob up, three 'travelling' folk pulled up in one of their vans. Passenger leans out the window and says "Nice motor, I bet it's quick" I thought 'Quicker then your Transit and caravan mate' I said "Yep, its not bad"
Suffice to say I didn't go straight home, at least it was an excuse to go back through the twisties!!!!

I had my car about 2 weeks, one day looked out of my front room window and noticed about 3 or 4 kids about 7 or 8 years of age looking round me motor. My wife joined me at the window and told me to go outside and tell them to clear off,i told her not to be so nasty and told her as a boy of that age i use to like looking at cars and dreaming i would have one of those when i grew up.Later on that day went outside to wash me pride and joy and realised they had nicked my dust caps off my wheels.Next time im going to show them somthing quicker than a scooby, the toe up the **** 0-60 in 0.01 of a second...............
