I'm talking about factory fitted here - do the later models have an electric boot release rather than the cable release fitted to the classics?

If so I assume they have a button in the car to release the boot, along with one on the alarm remote? I'm looking to fit an electric button on my classic and would prefer an OE one that fits in one of the existing slots. Reason is that I fitted an electric release motor so I can open the boot from the alarm fob, and want to disconnect the cable release completely for security while still having a button in the car to open the boot (which can be wired so it doesn't work when the car's locked).

I dont know if youre asking if theres a OE switch or whether its possible to have a switch inside the car to release the boot.

If latter, as you have the fob release it would be just a case of wiring in a switch to do the job of the remote fob.

Yep I'm asking if there's an OE switch. Wiring the switch in isn't a problem it's just that I'd prefer not to use some universal thing that I'd have to butcher into the dash somewhere and will look out of place etc.

If there's an OE one that will fit into one of the existing empty slots (e.g. next to the handbrake) that would be ideal. If they were never fitted to Imprezas I'll just have to butcher one...

what about just breaking into it, opening the back door and folding the rear seats?

I have thought about this myself as I usually keep my golf clubs in the boot, and if they were to go, then I dont think they'd be covered.

Well if the MY03 doesn't have electric release I guess none of them have!

As for releasing the rear seats, some scoobs have fixed rear seats which shouldn't be particularly easy to remove from inside the cabin (after all they should be able to withold a toolbox trying to force them open from the boot in the event of a smash). Not sure about the foldable seat models? Most saloon cars with folding seats can only be released from the boot for this very reason.

Well I'll just have to source a button from a different car by the looks of things. Thanks for the info.

Yo....
I'm fitting one to my car soon......the kits are pretty cheap or a simple central door locking actuator will do it...

Yeah the door lock actuator works fine, don't pay Clifford their rediculous inflated price for a solenoid with a piece of wire attached (around £40 IIRC).
