Not the result I expected.
I had come up behind him on a country lane, not too close, and we were both behind a metro. As soon as he was able he floored it past the metro, so I followed, he carried on fairly quick, so the race was on.
In a straight line there was nothing in it???? (I am running 230-240Bhp) and round corners I was really having to back off behind him so as not to tail-end him. Anyway, came to a nice, open fast right hander - 100+ corner easy, he was doing 80ish, and his backend started to get twitchy, so the dope kept tapping the brakes, making it even worse, I took my opportunity and floored it past on the exit - he didn't try and keep up then.
Of course a well driven 911 (it was a non-turbo) should beat me anywhere, however it just goes to show that many owners of fast cars are complete tossers.

This is outrageous behaviour on our open roads, please do not blatantly and so openly come onto such a law abiding site as this and upset everybody. Gosh you really do know how to upset people and ruin our weekend don't you.
I assume the roads were wet, if so i wouldn't think your experience was that suprising as i'd be well p!ssed if a 911 got away in the wet but totally expect it to in the dry.

It's really down to the drivers and how hard/fast/good/fearless they are apart from a lot of other factors.
Experiences like that kinda reminds you you are alive, before anyone slates the mod for condoning this, ask yourself - have you ever, ever broken the speed limit or taken the bait, even once?

I would expect to be fairly equal with most 911s,in fact had a traffic light start with a 911 S4,and to be honest quite easily out accellerated him all the way to 120,had to back off then, but then again mine is 4.6 and the S4 is 5.2 to 60, ok iv got a 325BHP STI7,so i would expect to be 4.2-4.3 its only the 911 turbo and GTs that can do a modded subaru and if youv got a good suspension set up what can!!! mind you would love to own a 911 S4!!

I beat a 991 turbo in my old mazda 323 1.6i a few years ago. Power dont matter, its the driver that counts. Mind you, i did cheat and took him and the car in front of him just before the double white lines ended . It was my ex-boss, he wasnt very happy the next day and then changed to the 4x4 twin turbo model a few weeks later LMAO!!!

well i spanked a lamborghini diablo in the dry and on a straight in a 1.6 sport with go faster clear side repeters and bhp adding subaru dust caps, took the logo tax disk holder out to give him a chance.

Phil from aberdeen,
any time you wish to `re-live` the experience of `thrashing` a boxster, i will be only to happy to take the `S` out the south Deeside road for you. How much of a head start would you like???
jas ;-)

I got spanked the other morning at 6.30 am on a standing start dual carriageway against a 911 rs and then the next day by the new BMW M3, the porsche was faster IMO

exactly my point people say I whooped a 911 well surely the measure of this feat depends quite clearly on the years/model etc let alone the driver behind the wheel!!
Now I personally think a well chosen spat on a clear stretch of road with a willing participant is all part of owning a car like we do, but that's my opinion obviously!
incidentally I whooped, and I mean whooped an a Peugeot 106 XS on the A5 near Hinckley to day :-)
by the way how on eartn do I do smileys etc. as the help page doesn't seem to work?

Talizman, Not too long now, got to run it in though, and for quite some time, Doh!
Was thinking of having mods done at the same time, but unsure what to have done.
This forum is excellent, but provides more questions than answers when it comes to some topics.

sorry - despite being die-hard Scoobista, new 911's are in a different league. Friend just purchased track-day 996 (think C2 based) with roll cage/race exhaust/race suspension/slicks/GT2 look-alike spoiler etc but the most impressive item was (after the bootiful noise) the standard spec brakes which happily coped with being 'thrashed' by a professional around Brands.

Personally I would say it's testimony to the Scooby that it is being talked about in comparison to a 911 at all, is there not a slight price differential between the two??
Plus it has a huge boot to take my golf clubs and a weeks shopping, it has four doors that I can get my 3 kids into and it makes me grin everytime I get in and I can afford one

LOL depends on the porker.
Was very well matched against a 964 c4 all the way to *ahem* in a UK MY99 turbo.
On the road there was very little in it.
Against any 993/996 in a standard uk car, classic, bug or blobeye, LOL...not a snowballs chance in hell if both were trying.
