hi,
looking at purchasing a Jdm sti-8.
i have been browsing around, one dealer is selling a 320 bhp sti,(not a spec C)?,i was led to believe the jdm sti-8 was around the 290bhp mark!
does any one know?
how many sti variants are there in jdm spec?
do they need to be remapped for uk fuel,or is it optimax and fuel booster?
many thanks simon

If it's 320bhp then it's been tuned - the Jap-spec STI is 276bhp as always. The Spec C has a little more torque and is lighter.
Is it possible that you're looking at a bugeye rather than the latest shape? Last year's surprisingly little known S202 model (badged STI, not Subaru!) had about that much power along with various other mods and is highly desirable if you're not scared of trying to get hold of parts for it. It was a limited run of (I think) 400 units, of which 7 are known to be in the UK.

I think I may have one of those rare s202 cars (STI 7) JDM car, has strengthened chasis, 310 bhp, different spec to UK car in as much as rear windscreen wiper, electric folding wing mirrors, no Subaru badging on rear just WRX STI if you change your mind about a STI 7 mine is for sale, only 7,000 miles and 6 mths warranty remaining. Genuine immac car, wife forces sale for the 'daddy people carrier!!!!! There are piccies on the for sale site my entry dated 23.7.03. Either way it amazes me how many variations of an outstanding car there are.

Almost forgot, the source for my car would probably be able to get hold of what you are looking for. If you ask for Neil at Parkstone Motors, (SEAT dealers)in London Road, Leigh on Sea who specialise belive it or not in importing Jap cars, Scoobies and EVO's they always have 3 or 4 cars in the showroom. Tel 01702 711841. They sort out all the paperwork for import, convert the speedo to MPH and register it for you. Hope this may help.

JRW: is there an STI badged oil cooler visible from the front of the car? If so, it's an S202. If not, you've got something else. The S202 also has a thin carbon fibre rear wing that's quite different to other Imprezas' spoilers.
