Considering a wrx
#1
Hello there,
have just joined this board and have snuck over from the Lotus BBS, but please don't hold that against me! Am looking at getting a new black Impreza WRX and was just wondering if there were any onwers on here who could tell me what they are like to run. Was very impressed with test drive but can anyone give me an idea of how many miles you get to a tank of juice.
thanks for your help!

Welcome to the light MrJoff. There are plenty of owners with more experience than me but if you're looking at an 03 WRX I've just got one (600mls) and can say that you'll be getting 22 - 24 mpg. Got 30 mpg on one run but to get that I needed granny mode on
Of course engine loosening up all the time and better mpg can be expected.

I have a 2001 new age WRX and absolute most i get is 250 miles per tank (but 250 grinning miles) its a 60 litre tank and thats when i'm driving like a *****
when i drive it and have some fun with it i get about 180 - 200 miles, but believe me mate.. its worth every pennie

thanks for the info guys am having trouble deciding on colour blue or black? prefer the black but can see it looking shabby after a few scratches whereas the blue would probably wear better -not having gold wheels though!

I have a 03 wrx and no matter how hard i drive it i can easily get 300 miles from a tank that works out about £39 of optimax, my best ever was 380 miles during running in.
But just remember the previous model 02 is heavier and has less bhp and worse fuel economy than the new 03

er, no don't think so! Would quite like a sunroof but not fussed about the leather seats as I think the standard jobs are more grippy. I'm getting a UK car as I wan't to dispose of my elise which is handy since most lotus dealers also sell scoobs!

Had my WRX 2001 for a week now and I cant stop grinning, if you do buy one you will not regret it.....no one buys a Subaru for Fuel economy. In fact you will try and find excuses to drive somewhere, anywhere but normally via a shell station LOL
The newer 2003 is supposed to be a better car than my humble bugeye and if it is , it will be superb.
Best bit o advise is go into owning a scoob knowing what to expect, if you know that insurance is terrible, fuel economy is non existant, parts are really expensive as is servicing then you cant really complain, and believe me first time you come out of a corner you wont be able to.
Now stop thinkin about it and go buy one......and come get me we can have a wee run about in her LOL
