I was inspired by past threads with people painting their grill badges and thought I'd give it a go. The paint was less than £2.50 from Halfords and the results look good.

Gary,

I've sort of put it on the back burner for now. I've just spent about £1500 on new wheels and bits + pieces to do various jobs on my car. I am painting my brake calipers, fitting braided hoses and Ferodo DS2500 pads front and rear.
I have ordered a Knocklink in the groupbuy and I wanted to see how my car runs with and without octane booster. I was pleasantly(sp) surprised with some recent threads on here with people saying how well their car runs with no knocking whatsoever. They can't even get above green!!!
My car has run superbly since I've had it (20 mths), so I may not bother with a remap. I'll wait and see.

I bet you must be the most excited man in Plymouth!!!!!

When does it arrive???

Cheers,

Craig.

Cool

I love it, a very professional job . I particularly like the buddha effect on the photo with it on your car , how did you achieve this . Top effort.

Hiya Craig, yes, i am the most excited bloke in plymouth.
Ive waited 4 months for the rite car, 4 months without a scoob!
It was only bought last week so i shall still have to wait a few weeks for shiping sva ect, nitemare! I shall know more in the next few days, cant wait TBH.
Dont blame you about the re-map, its exspenditure whichever route you go down.
Interested in the fuel thing tho, i shall be interested on your findings. Same car ect.
Have you got the K.L on max sensitivity?

Gary,

I'm still waiting for the Knocklink to arrive so I haven't got it yet.
My Type-R is a T reg V5, so it has the standard remappable ECU. I got a quote from GGR up in Leicester, near my home town of Stoke-On-Trent, for a ECUTEK remap and they said about £950. I'm not sure that I could justify the expense for something I may not need. I would only have got it for a bigger safety margin for the engine anyway as I don't want any more power.

It's a route you could go down, if you wanted, if yours is a V5.

Thats not a bad price i must say. Id do it only for safety, same as yourself. Probebly be a long term thing though.

Drop me a mail when youve got the K.L on, be interesting to know if it shows anything.

Cheers
Gary.

Plymouth chaps

Keep an eye in southern section we have regular-ish meets down here.

PS one of the locals had his 5 type R engine give out recently even though he had knocklink. I would seriously re-consider getting the car ecutek'd. Its the only way to ensure the car is safe constantly rather than having fuel ranging from 97-102 ron depending on what additives you use.

Anyhow, hope to see you around!

Marky

I find if you give them a quick blast down the road with a few good bends thrown in, they soon shut up.

Nice job Craig.

I can see it now. Pull up. Take badge off car. Place badge on velcro strip attached to t-shirt and other one on velcro on hat.
