What do you reckon it will depreciate to in another 3 years?
Would not dream of buying one new.
Compared with running a modded Scooby would it not be cheaper?

Anyone beat an 8:20? Modified or standard? If modified what spec?
Anyone any ideas what production Subarus have done around the ring as I have not been able to find numbers.

Sport Auto, a german magazine, from editor Horst Von Saurna has used a EU type Turbo old shape for a "dauertest" of 60.000 miles.
They also have managed to lap the ring in 8,37 min. Standard Turbo with absolutely no mods on it...
Creepy

John,
Bog standard MY00 driven by one of the best Ring drivers:
8:37
That's for a full lap, none of this "BTG" stuff.
They were over the moon with the car's behaviour FWIW.

Theo, the BTG "stuff" is the only way you can get a time on a public day, if there were an alternative we would use it.
my quickest so far is 8:20 BTG 2 up in my STi5 Type RA running on normal road tyres. Sticky TypeR tyres would be worth at least 1 second a mile, maybe 2.

Not a scoob but, Radical have just been around the "Ring" in a 1500 turbo version of their SR3 in 7:19 knocking 13s off the production car record.

My BTG time was 9:20 ish for a bog standard old style Classic on worn out F1's. To put this into perspective I'm not the greatest driver in the world and my friend in his BMW328i was running in 9:50's. When I took my old car a standard MK2 Golf GTi I did it in 10 mins 14 secs.
These times were being cautious and learning the lines (best plan as far as I'm concerned). I've now stopped timing myself as it is not compatible with safety IMHO.

I expected to see a 10 page post on how you lapped everyone![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
PI55 TAKE ALERT.
I would have come along and pedalled the old girl for you if you were finding it a bit of a struggle

Quote: "and a 9:12 when it was snowing."
The track isn't open to the public under those conditions, how did you manage that then?
An 8:47 in a 330D is an impressive time- how were you measuring BTG?

They actually leave it open in the snow!!!!!! That must be mental, I'd been assured that they shut it when the conditions become adverse.
If I ever got the chance to do it in the snow I'm sure I would be a lot slower than 10 mins.

I was there on the 27th-and the rain was torrential- I saw what looked like a river running down towards the Adenau entrance.
I've seen some bad conditions but never snow- in fact I'm not sure I'd be mad/man enough for that.

The thoughts in my head go like this...
You can buy a 3 year old M5 with 30000 miles for the price of a new STi or less. Fully kitted out, tremendous breadth of ability etc. It sounds like it is at least as quick as most Scoobys as well.
A big heavy "barge" (obviously not) that pulls 0.1g extra in corners over a Scooby, and does 0-125-0 about 10 seconds quicker than a classic Scooby
It would take some serious modifications to take 10 seconds off that time...
Quite a convincing case for a swap?

I would take an M5 over my classic Impreza any day, truly awesome cars that I've seen in extreme action at the ring.
When the later models get to the 25K mark I will buy one.

I hope you boys all ahve that £30K in the bank cash to buy your 3 year old M5 cos if you try and finance it like a new Scoob you may have a shock!!!!
As they depreciate like **** you pay for it on a monthly basis big time.
Looked at a year old M fumf after I sold my M3 and the repayments were crazy!!!!!
A new Scoob however will be much less.
The M fumf is however a fantastic car and as long as I could afford to buy one cash I would.
Bit scary once the warranty has run out if anything does go wrong tho
