Question

Is there likely to be anywhere in Berkshire that I can get this done more cheaply than at Lancaster Pangbourne? They quoted £99 today. As the aircon works, (albeit not quite as cold as it used to be), and the car is for sale, I'll leave it rather than pay that.

Cheers. It's near enough to me.

The AA service centre by me charges £75 apparently, and the web site is promoting 20% off the final bill on the first visit to them. So, unless for some strange reason that doesn't apply to aircon work, that would make it £60.

If you find one of those travelling aircon experts, they come to your house to do it. The one round here will charge a very fair call out fee plus the actual cost of the gas that he has to put in.He weighs the bottle before and after. A top up may not require that much gas.

I use one in the surrey area (weybridge) called chilly *****, he usually does it for 60 nicker and travels to you within a reasonable distance, email me as per profile if you want his number, he even does the R12 replacement gas which most places will try and con you into a so called "conversion" for 250 quid.

Anyone needing an aircon job in the surrey/kent/south london area, I have the details of a mobile guy that does recharges, full system reclaims, leak detection etc.

He charges £45 to do a recharge unless it's R12 which is about 60-70. Not sure about the other bits though
