555 Edition
#1
We should perhaps start a new thread and advertise it as a meet for 555 Imprezas - perhaps open it up to later 555 editions as well. I know that there are several around here and surrounding areas. What does everyone think???
edited to say I am North, near Southgate, RetroDome you cannot be that far away....
We should keep this thread near the top, to try and get as much interest as possible

RetroDome - There are a lot of Scoobies around my area, but not that many 555s, I know of about 3 not including yours. Thats a good perecentage if the total number of STI 2 555s is 100.

Who would be interested in having a 555 Edition Meet? in the next couple of weeks. There are already a few of us who have 555 Edition Imprezas who would like to meet more owners and their cars.
Ken Ross from Scotland, the chap who ahs the STI 555 Web page is also thinking of coming down, so we are hopeing for a big turnout.
Venue open to discussion.
If you are interested add your name -

I think you may have mis-read my page, I state that 500 - saloons were made and 100 - estates.
If you look at the advert you can see this info:-
I believe that the WRX Type RA STi Ver. II V-Limited was restricted to 555 Units, but ours weren't

Hey guys - Having a little trouble identifying my Sti V2
The company who imported it sold it as a V-Limited but I don't agree.
Having done some research I think its a 555 - just wondered if you agreed or disagreed and why.
My reasons for this are as follows -
It has option code BKC on the VIN plate
It has roof vent
It has i/c spray (this maybe Sti standard?)
It has a/c, e/w, c/l, e/m
It has STI signature cloth seats (this maybe Sti standard?)
It has lightweight bonnet
It does not have V-Limited plate
From what I can understand the 555 was the first WRC type edition and basically was a cross between what we later knew as the V-Limited and Type RA range
ie. It was done in the lightweight & commemorate style but with the goodies like air con left in.
So you have the best of both worlds!
Correct me if i'm wrong - also how do I post pics so you take a look?
cheers, Adam

I knew this was coming....but no plaque anywhere I can see
This can be 1 of 3 reasons...
1. The plaque fell off (unlikely)
2. My car is in fact a standard STi 2 with some factory options fitted (did they even do the roof vent as an option?)
3. 555's didn't have plaques (I can't find any pics of these)
cheers, Adam

Your plaque indicates that your car is V-Limited (ie. x of 1000)
As far as i'm aware they only made 100 of the 555 edition
....The 555 Edition being what they named the very first commemorate edition
....The V-Limited editions what they named the further commemorate editions
I take it yours isn't a version 2 Sti or if it is then its a type RA (no air con etc)

I have an STI Version 2 555 edition, and have seen a few others as well.
This does not have the Factory Plaque anywhere, no numbered palque on dash or in engine bay. Think they did in later versions eg version 3 and above. The STI 2 555 was not classed as a V limited, although there are arguments about how many were produced. They were also produced in a wagon form. You can always tell by the chassis number.
Apparently there were 555 made, although others have said 1000.
Mine as the roof vent, intercooler spay, short ratios, and red manifolds. It also has the side skirts. STI Lettered seats etc. Mine red lines at 7000, which is also where the rev limiter is set at. RAs have a 7500 red line, in the version 2 anyway.
They also came with air con, electric mirrors and windows. Light weight bonnet.

Cool - this is what I wanted - someone owns a 555 and could list the differences...
Having read this I'm now fully satisfied that mine is a 555 as it has everything listed inc red manifolds! Also explains the plaque issue - Andy555 pls could you tell me what your option code is on the VIN plate - I bet it is BKC
Now if someone could please show me how to post pics I could share it with you!

Is the one above a 555?
RetroDome: Also noticed that you do not have any side skirts.
I went to the Jap Performance meet at the Ace Cafe near Wembly last month and there was another 555 STI 2 there then, also a series 2 RA. You should try and pop along, I think its on the first Tuesday of the month, check in the Southern section. Where abouts are you in London? as I would also like to see your car.

No the one above is version 5 RA..
Yeah my side skirts are missing - apparantly they took these off when they fitted the coil overs - dunno why they didn't put them back - I presume it causes some sort of problem ??
I will defintaly try on get down to the meet at some point - maybe not this month but proberly next - The lambda sensor has gone on mine at the moment - I waiting for a replacement from Japan so I'm not driving it right now but once its all fixed..
Yes I would like to meet up - leave me your email address and we will arrange something,
cheers, Adam

a minor point, but these cars are not "V Limited", they are just Limited. The only car that has a V in its title is the STi5 versions are the V means Five.
For example
STi III Type RA Limited
STi IV Type RA Limited
STi V Type RA Limited
STi VI Type RA Limited
For example
STi III Type RA Limited
STi IV Type RA Limited
STi V Type RA Limited
STi VI Type RA Limited

Good point, I think thats been a problem when importers have advertised them with the "V Limited" description even though they are not version 5s.
As far as I know, the the STI 2 555 was not classed as limited, it has not got the numbered plates, although later 555 models did.
