Flame suit on.....
and rechecked!!
it never ceases to amaze me when these posts appear!!!
if the respective owners looked in there owners hand books it tells them what will be required at each service interval,,, its not to hard to work out that an oil & filter change will be considerably cheaper than any other work.. ie fluids... belts etc..
yes all they were trying to ascertain was what would be the likley cost... then some could argue if you have to ask about the price you cant afford it.. but we live in the real world, where prices differ according to post codes,,,and which bucket the price was pulled from..
Pete was that price just for oil from diffs etc....
1 hrs work !!!!!!!!!!!!! either its exspensive oil or the dealer has a rather lage problem there feeding!!!
oil changes are the fastest profit area for a garage cos there so quick... and i know the oil is not that expensive..
theres a couple of proverbs spring to mind but....
But hey each to there own... personally im a tight git and refuse to pay dealer prices or rates (90k) pared down to cambelt and oil change the others are done by myself in my own time..
Flame suit still on!!

My 98 classic is just coming up to 120K as well, my local dealer quoted £400 but are reducing rates for older/higher mileage cars (to stop you going elsewhere) and the new quote was £350.
As stated this is for ALL the fluids and filters, but not including cambelt

Mart360, I did actually look in the manual but it doesnt go up to 120k!! I am new to owning a Scooby and wondered what the 120k service would include. i.e would it be the same as a 60k service??
£350 is not too bad, that doesnt include the cambelt so does that mean it should be changed at 120k???

My 60k just cost £492 all-in at a Subaru dealer.
The 120k would be the same.
The cambelt is changed every 45k, so you can look forward to that at 135k.
The real biggies are when the fluids and cambelt services collide at 90k intervals.

I can't belive you guys PAY for an oil change and can't do it yourself ! They charge you £35 for oil and then £60 for labour ! Oil filter (orginal Subaru) £11.53 oil £7.50 (i work for an oil company...)toal bill..less than £20 even if you bought Mobile 1 which you guys say is too thin your looking at £40 saving £55 odd pounds and changing the diff oil...soooo easy there's even pictures on this site if you do a search that'll show you how to do it.......Come on guys get your hands dirty once in a while ! ok i'm gonna get blasted about getting your dealer stamp, you could do the oil change yourself and get them to do the rest.... i can feel you gonna start blasting away at me with other quips and smart alec answers.....ah well.....

Petrol-Head...
Good point, the main reasoin why most Scooby owners pay this premium, is to maintain the critical FSubaruSH ( a serious bargaining chip when it comes to selling time)....
one could argue that on a car with relatively high mileage, why bother? but each to their own......

Agreed Dan, but i think as long as a car has a service history that's ok. As for the selling point i've found it only works really for the dealer to say that the previous owner has had it seviced by Subaru and they bump up the forecourt price acordingly.
This doesn't just cover Subaru but most makes of car really....
I persoanlly wouldn't buy a Scoob without service history but it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't Subaru. Maybe the only precaution is to get the belts done, at least you have peace of mind.
