MY02 or a MY03 That is the question?

DO not buy from motorpoint, you will live to regret it. Do a search on motorpoint here on the bbs. Motorpoint left a very bitter taste in my mouth and I will never deal with them again.
Have a read of my previous post on the subject.. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=202472

Visited a car supermarket today who have in stock several new MY02 bugeye model cars for £16500. They are all Euro Imports and have 3 year warrenty. The question is should I go for one of these or wait and save a few pennies for a MY03. I do prefer the look of the MY03 but it is worth the 2.5K more? What do you think?

Must be pretty old stock. I think the introduction of the MY03 made the bug-eye look immediately dated (I had a bug eye). Don't forget that if you ever want PPP you'll need to take it to the country of origin. As with all imports - double check it's coming from an EU country. ALso the power output of the MY03 is slightly higher than the MY01/2.

I've got an 02 WRX PPP and love it. I had an 03 WRX on demo for the day and loved that too. It's a better car than the 02, but it didn't make me want to chop my car in for one so soon.
Having said that, my Wife bought a new 03 Sportswagon, rather than take a huge discount on an 02. I guess we both thought it was worth the extra.
We've always steered clear of imports, mainly for the reasons already posted.
Cheers

Motorpoint are selling MY03's for £16799, now they did only do a 12 month warranty, but with the competition being so great this might have changed. Have a look on some of the adverts on here cos some of them are offering 3yr warranties, if not extend the warranty on the expiry??

Motorpoint cars are usually from Cyprus. European, but not EU, so no full 3 year warranty, no EU spec, no chance of a PPP if you wish, and lower residuals.
Didn't someone post recently, that by the time they'd added the cost of warranty, alarm etc etc to an STi8 from there, that the cost reached the discounted price of a UK car from a main dealer?

my Local Scooby Dealer has a pre reg red MY03 with OZ anthracite wheels and a STi (type ) spoiler which renders thoughts of buying a MY02 pretty obsolete..
