Theo is spot on.

If the test cars had been say a 1.4 fiat bravo and a Vauxhall astra it would have been easy for us to say 'well our cars could do that without ATD' and so dilute the effect of the test.

That too, hence he lifted off rather than keep the power on. I.e what Mr or Mrs Miggins would do if a they were on a motorway and something fell off the lorry in front.

Such a system, would be a bargain even if it cost 4K, esp if it had user controllable settings like the prototype does.

During some rooting around I came across Prodrive's promotional Video of the famed ATD system.

It's about 6 minutes long and contains a slalom/object avoidance at speed test between a standard MY02 WRX, an EVO 7 and the ATD prototype.

It's not the most technical video in the world, but does show the capabilities very well.

I know i'm a driver of the ham fisted variety, but it makes the WRX and EVO 7 look like shopping trolleys.

Avi has kindly offered to host the video and it can be found here.
http://www.aviz.co.uk/video/prodriveatd.mpg - Nice one

smaller lower res versions here

High Resolution Video - Approx 22Mb

Low Resolution Video - Approx 7Mb

-----

Update, See above for direct link to the video
In case the above does'nt work then If you want to see the video then mail me and I'll send you the link.

It's limited to 50 per day So only the first 50 will get to see it today. It's also on Kazaa called Prodrive ATD Video.mpg

The file is 62Mb in size hence the bandwidth restrictions. If someone can host it in the normal way then let me know.

I did post this Today in the whats new for MY04 Topic

quote.....................

Prodrive didn't do a lot of work and PR on their ATD system for nothing And would imagine shall play a part in a 2004 car O/K maybe not on e UK limited Edition(P1/RB5 eqivilent £31k) but maybe on the Jap special Edition S304 (22B eqivilent £40k) IMHO

It's only a prototype at the moment so $$$$$$ There is reportedly an after market system under development but when and how much that would be is anyone's guess.

Is he seriously saying a standard WRX wagon handles that course better than an Evo 7? Im sure a few owners will be replying to this thread

OK, thanks for the link, downloaded in about 15 minutes on BB.
Impressive. Have read something on here b4, but can someone give a brief info on what it is actually besides moving from front to rear to neutral depending on the grip (or lack of)? I suppose there must be some DCCD working with G-sensors etc? Without giving out the secrets of course.
Looks promising. If it becomes commercially available I suppose everybody with a turbo&AWD would want one. Anybody knows if it would be possible to, or plan is to make it available as an “upgrade” to cars? (with some kind of DCCD).

Thanks and cheers

Amazing stuff, some EVO owners should be worried now, and when the ATD system is available, some Impreza owners also... (the ones that didn't buy it).
Seriously now : This is the kind of stuff were I would spend my money on, more than on spoilers and other eye-catching stuff. This sort of mods can make your car safer and faster at slow and high speed. When I ever buy a new Impreza, this must be standard on my car, and they can ditch the rear spoiler and aircon instead...

I am just converting the video into WMV format, I am going to ahve 2 versions of it one higher quality (approx 25Mb) and one lower quality (6Mb) which is a little more modem friendly for those without broadband.

Will post lniks here later on once I ahve them all sorted.

2 More links to the video, that I will keep up for a few days, the second link is a bit more friendly to the modem user.

High Resolution Video - Approx 22Mb

Low Resolution Video - Approx 7Mb
