How does that work then? One of my colleagues at work was going on about how he's noticed more and more Imprezas like mine on the road and therefore "they're nothing special anymore mate".
Er, forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't they stop making classic Imprezas a few years back, hence they cannot become anymore 'common' and the number on the road is at it's peak (and has been for the past... couple of years) and can only go down if anything?
Don't think they're that common anyway, drove all the way up to Scotland a couple of years back (680 miles) and saw all of two turbos (and one was a wagon)!!!
Sorry for that mini-rant but this guy at work was implying I thought I drove something special (which I do, well semi-special anyway ) and that Imprezas were as common on the road as Ford Mondeos!

Hi jamie,
youve just found the its rare untill you get it syndrome!!
I know the feeling had a saab 900 turbo before the scooby... never saw another around,,,, then common as muck... now ive sold it...dont see so many....
with the scooby.... they are still a relativly rare car... if i see 1 a day im lucky... however once youve got one , you tend to spot others (apart from mine)

It probably depends where you live - I see atleast 1 Classic Turbo a day. I often see 3 or 4 - and I only live 2 miles from my work. I would class them as common in the "see them all time" sense.

YEAH i know what u mean
since i got mine ive noticed them a lot more
but compare it to a bmw /merc/porsche etc
they dont seem so common then do they

I've also been told they're more common (by a BMW driver! ) however I can still go a whole day usually without seeing another
They're still special - I was out last night with Chris' brother for dinner, when we came out the resturant there was a guy standing admiring the Scooby (don't worry, he didn't look dodgy! ) and driving home from westkey I passed a Pug 406 only to have two kids lean out the window and shout "Scooby!" at me as I went past lol!
Personally I don't care what others think, I love mine and I know it's unique (as is your's Jay ).

You are also seeing alot more of them cos your looking for them. Round Herts/Aylesbury/ Leighton buzzard, I see more bugeyes and 03's than classics. I'm lucky if I see more than 2 and I own 1 of them.

I see more on the weekend than I do during the week. Perhaps a lot of people try to keep them as a weekend car?
I use mine 7 days a week and probably see about 2 in those 7 days.
I wouldn't go as far as to call them common, "popular in certain areas" would be a better phrase

I live 5 mins from M6. When I take the dogs out, I walk over a bridge, If I stay 10 mins watching traffic (boreing t*at)I'll be lucky to see one scoob classic or new age, and thats probably 6-700 cars! Common I don't think so.

i live in torpoint over the water from plymouth, its a relitivly small place 2 live, but never the less including mine there r three classics here, and one that comes over from plymouth to work here which makes 4, that to me is quite common, but so what, people still stop and stare, they always will, ITS A QUALITY CAR, and that will never change.

Exactly , and how many BMWs would you see in ten minutes?!
Don't worry, I don't think they're common - not where I live anyway. I think this guy at work is talking isht just because there are two Scoobies in the car park where I work (and he drives a Ford Fucas)!

FORD FOCUS, what the flying f**k is this guy on, u cant get more common than a ford fucus(ford...fix or repair dayley)lol, this guy need to go to a corner and have a word with himself, common ill give him common.

he's not talking about the marque. he is talking about the model. therefore saying your see loads of bmws is not relevant.
they are very popular around here, there are 2 subaru garages within 15 miles of each other.

Doesnt matter if "common" or not, still many
And drove thru slow part of town, this am; and hear this nipper pipe up "wow watta ride", there again he might have been talking about the mondeo behind.

Might be a few Scoobs about when/if the ATD arrives.
My MY98 was the first scoob on my estate I see about 4 or 5 regularly now. Hardly common though, at a recent meet there were about 30 but there were from all over. Okay only folks with web access knew about it but its still a cult car and part of the Grand Turismo experience.
You could always buy an EVO then it could takes months before anyone waves at you .

I was wondering just how common scoobs are the other day. So on the way home I decided to count not only Scoobs, but also three other cars - Astras, Golfs and Focuses.
Over about 10 miles on an A road, I saw 2 Scoobs (one Classic, one Bugeye WRX), 17 Astras, 19 Golfs and 18 Focuses.
Feel quite exclusive again!

The number of classics on the road can only drop, as they're
scrapped, written off, etc.
Can't see many keeping one as a future collectable, as long as FHI
keep rolling them out.
My local garage did have 9 new shape turbos (STI and WRX), a couple of weeks ago, which doesn't bode well for this sort of car.
Try counting the number of Audi TTs in a car park.
I figure we're a nation of hairdressers, since I saw 4 just walking out of the station car park

I think that they are becoming more "availiable" Which I for one am loving It's cool to hear another scoob throb past.
My indicator by the way is the ease that it's possible to get a 20+ car meet together nowadays. It used to take months and you were lucky if 5 cars turned up.
Again, I ain't complainin'
Mikey <Lovin the fact that there are plenty about>

I saw 4 scoobys on the way into work today, 3 MY03's and 1 classic, and none ove them waved . Yet last night I passed an evo and he did. Work that 1 out.
