Question

Time is short but here we go........

I am stuck between taking one of two cars to the Ring......

The Subaru Type RA (Ex Scoobysport car) is the obvious choice for when we're there but I'd love to drive down in my new toy and poss do just a few "light" laps in it.....

So....

Here's the offer.....

I will lend my RA to someone who is prepared to come and collect it, drive down to Folkstone, pay the tunnel, sort their accomodation over there...car share it at the Ring on Fri afternoon, Saturday AND Sunday and then return journey back on Monday

So, the cost to you is the Tunnel, accomodation, petrol there and back and half of the fuel at the Ring itself.......

I'm not asking for any cost towards tyres, brakes, etc....

This is a very well sorted car and should be fun

Time is of course of great importance and needs to be sorted by lunchtime today latest (I'm travelling down this evening and staying over for the 8am tunnel crossing tomorrow)

Over to you

Chris

How much do you think this would cost all in...roughly? I'd seriously consider it: really not liking work at the moment and the ring has always appealed

Thanks for your kind comments

As for cost etc... I can only guestimate at;

Chunnel £180
Accomodation £100 (3 nights)
Petrol down and back VERY APPROX £200
Ring fuel (half) £200

Plus beer money etc.....

Chris,

I just told Adrian F about your offer and he's giving it some thought. The other obvious candidate is the featherweight beer drinker with a detting Type R (or RA?) of his own who lives not too far from you. Sorry John!

Thanks Tony,

Adrian has just phoned but alas he's not able to collect and sort all the other things out.

The other " dodgy " Ra V Ltd is fixed, sorted and will be making an appearance

Luke, that's down to the individual....I would expect them to have 3rd party legal cover and I'm sure if needs be then for a small fee to the insurance company/broker it wouldn't be a problem

Tracey, I'm in Littleborough which is Jnc 21 of the M62 Nr Manchester (p.s; I still need that room )

Interested yes, we already have crossing booked and accomodation booked. What about insurance for driving it there and back?

Cheers

Everything needs to be checked by yourselves with regards to insurance etc......

I will only allow one other driver of this car to and from the Ring and at the Ring itself.....

I'm offering this facility ONLY so I am able to take the 993 across and enjoy the drive to and from Germany as well as a few "light" laps whilst there.

I'll not be on-line now till circa 2pm so any questions please ring my moby as listed above.

Many thanks

Chris

Well I am left now feeling as though fate is stopping me going this weekend, having been looking forward to it for almost three months.

After yesterdays problems with the car I did a couple bottles of red last night, which meant I wasn't up til almost 11am. Had I been up at the normal time I would have known about this earlier and could have got it sorted.

A huge thankyou to chris for the kind offer. Have a safe trip.

I really hate rich gits....

Chris - just be glad your wealthy enough to have a choice ya poser!!!!

Ask your butler to drive the other one down - or fly them both over in your private jet - sounds daft to only take one

Sorry we are too far away to sort out coming to collect, but kind offer anyway. He is now taking my Subaru.

And Chris, your room is still safe (you might even have it to yourself now that Ed has dropped out).

Cheers

Its about 2 years since I've driven this car and someone is going to have a LOT of fun this weekend Its still the most fun Impreza I've ever driven and whilst the gearing I used was very short, it was still very quick overall and will be stunning at the Ring. Chris, does it still have the very short ratios?

On a mag shoot with CCC, we got it air bourne over the "snake" at the MOD test track at Chobham. On the steep downhill after the crest is a square left, square right and open left back onto the main track. There is no run off and the track (as wide as a country lane) was covered in wet leaves. Even if it was dry, you pretty much land at the point where you need to start turning so braking isn't really an option. The only other car that the journos knew of that had done this and survived was a works Metro 6R4. My journo passenger was quiet until we rejoined the main circuit

You are a generous man to share your toys like this Chris. Have a great weekend
