Did I see the new face of the Impreza today ?
#1
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by a Market Research Company. They knew I had a Scooby and wanted my opinions. Today I had a 1 hour meeting and even got paid for it. The results are below.
I was shown a series of Adverts and asked what I thought. The first two were SAAB and BMW M Coupe, and then the New Impreza.
It was a picture of a front view, with one half the old one and the the new one ?
(now I dont know for sure if its the new one, or just artistic license) I can only say what I saw, and people can draw their own conclusions. I got to see four or five versions of Ads and asked my opinion. All the views that looked like the new one were only the front view, so wheels, rear spoilers etc were not to be seen.
The front headlights looked very Legacy ish, and so did the grill. The bit that bothered me and makes me wonder a little is the fog lamps were more the shape of a non sporting 306 and next to it were some spots very similar to the Vectra GSI. The bonnet scoop was still there, but the air ducts had gone.
Looked fairly aggresive though.
Of more relevance might be some of the wording.
It kept being called the new Subaru Impreza WRX. (recognition for the greys ?)
The engine was stated as a new lower emmsions 218bhp version
The suspension was claiming improvements.
No mention of 276bhp or 6 speed boxes.
As already said untill August or whenever we wont know how close the things I saw today are. The best might be hidden from eyes until closer.

Interesting. I'm having trouble picturing it though. I'm not familiar with the 306 or Vectra (I'm in the US). Did the pictures look anything like the butchered spy photos that have been flying around lately?
Thanks

Hi Jonathon,
I think I was on the same research as you. The researcher said she was seeing another Impreza bod and it must have been you.
It was the new Impreza that you saw but they were computer generated shots rather than photos. If you do a search there have been some very recent threads with links to photographs. As for the text it related to the current MY00 and not the new model.
Otis.

I was seen at 12.00. There was two sets of Adverts. The text at the top was press reviews of the old car, but the other text on the adverts I saw related to the new car.
and the slogan on one was.
"Some things change---------NAH"

Saw the latest Autocar today. This supposedly had the new Impreza to be launched straight after the NEC show. Can't say I liked it.
What I did like was the Evo RSR450. Erm, yes please - 450 bhp. 0-60 3.something 0-100 8.8!!!! 44k. Makes the 22B launch price look a bit high...
