Question

Your advice on the following would be appreciated.

After some muppet pulled out in front of my wife's MY99 and caused £4K worth of damage we have just got her car back after repair. The last time this happened all sorts of problems came out of the woodowrk some months down the line which resulted in some sizeable bills for us.

As the car is nearly 5 years old and in light of the above we are looking to change to a new/ex-dem UK STI.

Bearing in mind that we only want to trade the car in rather than sell it privately what would people recommend as our best bet for trading up to the STI. Have looked at imports etc. but would like a type UK to make warranties/resale easier.

Are we best going to an official Subaru dealer as they may give us the best trade in or are we better getting a lower price for the STI from a specialist and taking a hit on the trade in.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

tiggers.

I assume since you mention a UK STI it'll be a bugeye or new-shape? If so, then you're limited to either a Dealer for a UK STI or going to one or two specialists for a JDM.

Personally, I'd shop around for a good trade-in or at least a good all-round deal on upgrading to the STI.

I know someone who drove an extra couple of hundred miles to Stan Palmers just because our local Dealer gave a cr@p trade-in price for his 4mth old car.

Pays to shop around.

Yeah I did a search on here and Stan Palmer's name keeps cropping up.

Yes it is a new/ex-dem STI we're after so it will be a bug eye. Still think it's one ugly mf, but having shopped round there is nothing else on the market that takes our fancy so we may as well stay with what we know. Also we (maybe naively) think that Subaru may give us a better trade in for our MY99.

Regards,

tiggers.

Have you thought about A PPP 03wrx nearly the same bhp as the sti and a couple of pound per foot more torque than the STI.

I have always thought the STI should come with a sign for your back saying "Kick Me".
Not that i wouldnt have one its just that i wouldnt dare leave it parked anywhere LOL and the fact there is no uk 5 door.
I have gone from MY99 uk wagon to the 03 ppp and the performance difference is phenominal
