Scooby £24,500 car insurance quote £700 Liverpool and victoria
205 GTi 1.9 £1,000 car, Insurance quote £650 fully comp
205 GTi 1.9 £1,000 car, Insurance quote £660 third party only
So why do I pay more for third party than for fully comp and how the hell can they justify a £50 difference only between the two cars???
Makes me chuckle

Maybe they're more worried about you driving into someone else than the damage/loss of yours. I guess if you ran someone over the costs to the insurance company would be similar no matter what you were driving.
Then again, maybe they do just make it up as they go along.
Sorry for the cr@p answer.

Guess that 3rd party = higher risk person:
potenially lower income, younger, more reckless when driving (don't have to look after your car so much), smaller probability of having a family (otherwise if you could afford it you'd have fully comp) so take less care, less cash = less care given tomaintenance = higher risk etc.
Agree though, they do rip us off at times becasue they know we have to have insurance.

Aren't the insurance companies trying to get rid of TP and TPFT insurance now, for whatever reason they may have thought of? (And I would never, ever suggest it's so they can make more money...).

In some countries (or at least some states in the US) they have "no fault" insurance. So if you have an accident with another vehicle they don't try and apportion blame, each party's insurance company coughs up half. Claims are settled quicker, no litigation so the insurance companies don't need to retain big teams of lawyers. Premiums *should* therefore be lower, although I think your premium would be hit even if it's not your fault. As this country seems to follow every other US trend, what would you think if they tried to do this here ???

JMK .......either that or third party = like me person who wants a second car to do very low miles per year and has never had a crash in his life.
The answer I got from Liverpool Victoria will go to my grave with me ...... ''If you have a your fault accident sir and you cause thousands of pounds of damage to your car you have to pay a high excess with fully comp'' ...... My reply was '' But with third party YOU dont need to pay a penny for repairs to my car, i pay it all'' ........ OH YEAH he said ..... I dont make the rules sir .....haha
Whata plank
